Big little lies stars Shailene Woodley and Iain Armitage reunite as the series' third season continues to take shape. Woodley played Jane Chapman and Armitage played her son, Ziggyon the hit HBO series. Despite having already gone beyond the source material, along with the finality of the season 2 finale, Nicole Kidman later confirmed that Big little lies Season 3 is in development. Reese Witherspoon also shared her involvement in the development of season 3 and HBO exec Casey Bloys further confirmed that it is in its early stages.
On Instagram, Armitage has now shared a photo of him and Woodley reuniting. The photo was taken after Armitage went to see Woodley perform in the play Cult of Lovewhich is her Broadway debut. Armitage refers to Woodley as his "first fake mom" in the post, since he filmed Big little lies 1st season before Young Sheldon season 1. In the post, Armitage also recalls how encouraging and supportive Woodley was in his acting career when he was first cast in Big little lies at 7 years old. Check out the post below:
What does this mean for big little lies
A Jane and Ziggy reunion needs to happen in season three
While Big little lies Season 3 is still in the early stages of development, it's exciting to see that prominent cast members are still close and supporting each other's careers. Season 3 could see Jane and Ziggy reunitingalthough the reunion was more complicated later Big little lies the season 2 finale, which saw Jane and other members of the Monterey Five heading to the police station and presumably turning themselves in. This means Ziggy may need to visit his mother in prison in Season 3.
Previously Woodley Big little lies suggestion was that Instead of focusing on the Monterey Five, Season 3 could focus more on the younger generation. As indicated by Armitage's reference to how he started Big little lies 1st season before Young Sheldonhe has come a long way in his career since then. The same goes for Kathryn Newton and Cameron Crovetti, two of the other younger actors who have since starred in bigger roles in other major films and television series.
Our Take on Shailene Woodley and Iain Armitage Reunion
It's sweet to see and bodes well for the future
It's touching to see Woodley and Armitage reuniteespecially since Armitage will be supporting Woodley in her Broadway debut. In terms of the future of the HBO series, seeing Jane and Ziggy together again feels like an important addition to a Big little lies Season 3 wish list. Woodley's idea of focusing more on the younger generation is promising, but even if Ziggy becomes more of a main character than Jane, there should still be a reunion between mother and son in Big little lies season 3.
