Of follows a group of strangers who end up in a mysterious town that is overrun by murderous creatures every night. These creatures continue to evolve and, in season three, have leaned heavily into their manipulative side. Fatima (Pegah Ghafoori) found out she was pregnant at the end of season two, which was strange for her because she was told she would never be able to have children.
Of Season 3 Episode 6 revealed that she’s not actually pregnant, at least it doesn’t seem like it when the doctor examines her with an ultrasound machine. She had been having dark cravings – for human blood and rotten products, which she assumed came from her baby. Now that her worst fear has come true, only time will tell if she is pregnant, or perhaps infected, by the monsters. Of Season 3 releases new episodes Sundays at 9pm ET/PT on MGM+.
SCreenRant interviewed Pegah Ghafoori about Of season 3. She revealed how she reacted to learning about Fátima’s pregnancy nightmare when she read it for the first time. Ghafoori also talked about what she thinks about these creatures that make them so terrifying and how she herself would deal with their presence in the city.
Fátima’s ultrasound scene was rewritten before airing
“It was supposed to be something we could see there.”
Screen Rant: What was your reaction when you first read what the ultrasound scene would be like?
Pegah Ghafoori: You know what? The ultrasound scene was rewritten. It was supposed to be something we could see there. We couldn’t figure out what it was, but then they rewrote it so there was nothing there, or so it seems.
Screen Rant: What do you really eat when Fátima eats bad vegetables?
Pegah Ghafoori: It’s cookies, it’s cake, and it has a lot of food coloring and molasses, which isn’t great. Edible, but not very good, and only edible blood, which is also horrible.
Pegah Ghafoori was excited to really “dig in” starting with season three
When it came to its plot, it “didn’t disappoint.”
Screen Rant: How did you feel about Fátima’s arc from the first season?
Pegah Ghafoori: I feel sorry for her all the time. I was so excited to finally get out of this. Oh, she’s cool. She is good. You can act normally. You can act fine, whereas I was able to mentally put myself in a place where things are a nightmare. It’s not that different from the world, but we often dissociate ourselves. I was able, this season, to really dig my nails into it and go a little crazy.
Screen Rant: What were you most excited to explore this season?
Pegah Ghafoori: I really wanted to know what would happen with the pregnancy. Which didn’t disappoint. I think it was just seeing if I could survive this season that was a big thing. And then just seeing if I could do it.
The fact that the creatures are so soft is what makes them so scary
“It’s like the lights are on, but no one’s home with the kind of look they give you.”
Screen Rant: What do you think makes these creatures so terrifying?
Pegah Ghafoori: Well, our visual effects team and special effects team. But I think everyone on the show, the main cast, so to speak, is always in this state of heightened emotion. Whereas with them, they’re so soft and there’s nothing there, it’s like the lights are on, but there’s no one in the house kind of look that they give you. And it only shows if you stop caring about what you become, and you can see it in them.
Pegah Ghafoori has experience in emergency telecommunications, but isn’t sure if it would help her if she got stuck in the city
“I don’t want any part of this. I’d rather just lay my head down and rest.”
Screen Rant: If you were personally trapped in this city, what would you do?
Pegah Ghafoori: I think I would run until I was out of breath and then I would pray. I think at the end of the day, everyone just prays. I feel like I would be one of the first to die, to be honest. I would hide. I think everyone is hiding, but then they would say we literally have no room. And I would say, okay, I’m just going to get destroyed and not in a good way.
have experience in emergency telecommunications. So I’d like to think I could take on the lead role. I’m also tired most of the time. And I saw these people, our Sheriff Boyd. I don’t want to be part of that. I prefer to just lay my head down and rest.
Screen Rant: What storyline, besides your own, were you most excited to see this season?
Pegah Ghafoori: Hannah and Ethan are, I’m keeping an eye on them. They’re growing up a little, so you’re seeing their childhood vision dissipate. And you’re like, Oh, how would a growing child deal with this world? And it’s like they’re doing a great job.
