NOTICE! This article contains SPOILERS for Season 3, Episode 9!As the Fatima Trap becomes more unbearable Of Season 3, Episode 9, a new basement discovery suggests the horror show could repeat a series-changing twist Lost. Since the show’s pilot episode Of has drawn numerous comparisons to the 2004-2010 ABC sci-fi mystery drama Lostboth show travelers trapped in a supernatural location. On the one hand, OfThe cast is led by LostMichael Dawson actor Harold Perrineau with the MGM+ horror show also being executive produced by Lost director Jack Bender and writer Jeff Pinkner.
As Of progressed, started following some of the same beats as Loststory, with mystery after mystery being introduced as the survivors seem more confused than ever. Although it has been subtly constructed for quite a while, Of Season 3 officially repeated LostThe time travel twist, revealing in episode 8 that, like the island, the city doesn’t necessarily operate on a linear passage of time. Now, just one episode later, Fátima’s discovery of a trapdoor in the basement suggests that another LostA style twist could be coming at the end of season 3.
The Root Cellar’s trapdoor hints at a repeat of LOST’s hatch twist
Could the trap door reveal a shocking revelation about From’s Town, like Lost’s Hatch?
Although Elgin claims she is not a prisoner there, he brought Fatima to the basement by tricking her, with the baby internally attacking her when she tries to leave. While there, Fatima has to drink Elgin’s blood to feed herself and the baby, making the true nature of what is growing inside her even more disturbing to imagine. When Elgin leaves, Fátima tries to find ways to escapewhich includes breaking a metal piece of the bed frame as a potential weapon.
At one point, while Fátima is on the ground in pain from her baby, she accidentally starts digging in the dirt and comes across a chain. When she pulls the chain and digs further around the area, Fátima finds a trapdoor in the basement. Apparently being their best chance of escaping the room, Fátima completely uncovers the trapdoor, but when she starts trying to open it, it won’t budge.. However, her efforts to open the door are interrupted when the ghost of the Kimono Woman appears, covering Fátima’s mouth while pinning her to the bed.
Fátima discovering the basement trapdoor in Of season 3, episode 9 brings to mind a big reveal midway through Lost season 1. At the end of Lost Season 1, Episode 11, Boone and Locke were in the jungle when the latter threw a flashlight that accidentally hit the ground, although the object unexpectedly made a metallic sound. The two then began digging to uncover the steel structure, which revealed a mysterious hatch that was sealed in the middle of the jungle.
The discovery of the hatch in Lost added several new layers to the show’s island mysteries, and the same could be true of the trap door that Fátima found in From’s basement.
In Lost Season 1, Episode 19, Locke was knocking on the hatch door when he saw a light turn on inside, revealing that someone was down there. The hatch was finally opened in Lostend of season 1, eventually revealing the story of Desmond Hume as the survivor entering hatch numbers into DHARMA Station 3, “The Swan”. The discovery of the hatch in Lost added several new layers to the island show’s mysteries, and the same could be true of the trapdoor Fátima found in Ofroot cellar.
Where could the Root Cellar trapdoor come from?
The trapdoor can lead to the tunnels or introduce an entirely new location
How Fátima can’t open the door sooner Of Season 3, Episode 9 ending, the show has yet to reveal what lies beneath. THE the most likely answer is that it leads to the city’s underground tunnels. In Season 1, Tabitha began digging beneath her house and found an entrance to the tunnels, with Victor being sent by Of‘s Boy in White to get her back. The tunnels remain a great mystery, but they are known to house some of the residents’ lost possessions, are where monsters sleep, and are where the “Anghkooey” children were apparently sacrificed on the stone slabs.
The trapdoor could also lead to the dungeons, where Julie recently returned. Of season 3, episode 8. Julie’s trip there revealed that she could walk through time to various locations in the city, such as the tunnel, so the trapdoor could be another entrance. Furthermore, as the revelation of Losthatch, OfThe trapdoor in the basement could introduce a new hidden locationunveiling new layers of the city’s mysteries that perhaps connect to whoever – or whatever – controls the supernatural forces.
From’s Root Cellar Trap Door may introduce a new character (like Desmond in LOST)
A New Character Might Be Living Under the Basement
If Fátima finally manages to open the basement trapdoor in OfAt the end of Season 3, then the show could introduce an entirely new character. THE typical way for Of introducing new characters is having them drive into town and get stucklike with the bus passengers in season 2 and Acosta in season 3. Of Season 3 has already debuted a new strategy to bring in new faces through Tabitha, reaching the outside world and finding Victor’s father, Henry.

With the cellar, Of could take these changes even further, potentially introducing a new character who was stuck there all the time, similar to Desmond Hume in Lostthe hatch. Desmond became one of LostThe most compelling characters in the entire series, and it was shocking to discover that he was there the entire time Jack and the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 were on the island. Of There’s no shortage of engaging characters, but it’s hard to believe that the established residents are the only people in town.
Of Season 4 was not officially renewed by MGM+ before the end of Season 3.
It is unlikely that there will be another situation like that of the “Others” in Lost with another entire municipality existing in this world, but there are certainly some ways that Of could introduce new characters who already secretly live in Fromville. This could be achieved through wherever the basement trapdoor led, or by finding new figures like the chained Martin through Ofconfirmed elements of time travel. The basement seems to be a vault for many tragedies and secrets of Ofpast, so it could also be the key to debuting unexpected new characters.
