A revival season of Scrubs is on its way, and it looks like creator Bill Lawrence has found the perfect way to make it work. The quirky medical sitcom released its first season back in 2001 and officially wrapped up with season 9 in 2009. Since then, there have been constant requests for a reboot, but confirmation that something was in the works came only recently. Of course, even the popularity of the show and the hopes of a reunion are no guarantee that the revival will be a success. However, Lawrence knows how to give Scrubs Season 10 its best shot.
As Lawrence has worked on recent popular projects like Bad monkey, ShrinkingAnd Ted LassoHe continued to provide updates on these Scrubs Revival. The producer and screenwriter remained optimistic that the new season will become a reality, and most of the original cast seem to be on the same page. Zach Braff and Donald Faison said they and their fellow stars are eager to returnWhat is imperative to a potential Scrubs season 10. However, Lawrence knows that’s not all the reboot would need.
Scrubs Season 10 blending and new characters is the best choice for a revival
OG characters for familiarity, new characters for growth
In an update about ScrubsLawrence said he thinks the reboot is very close to happening. He noticed that Season 10 would only be worth making if there was a “Combo” of returning and new actors. Lawrence is right with this conclusion. A Scrubs The revival must absolutely reveal what JD, Turk, Carla and Elliot have been doing all these years, but there is no reason to continue the story if there is nothing new that would build on the previous series. after all, Scrubs was always about the “Super idealistic“New faces enter the medical field (as Lawrence did), and a revival just wouldn’t feel organic without the same concept.
The new revival characters of Scrubs are still a big risk after Season 9
New characters can still be a problem
While a Scrubs Revival season has to have new faces to drive the story forward, that doesn’t necessarily mean the new project is a shoo-in. after all, Scrubs Season 9 mixed old and new characters, and the installment bombed. So much has changed about the series (from the setting to the channel) that it no longer feels like the same beloved sitcom. The same is sure to be true, to an extent, of Scrubs Season 10 since so much time will have passed since audiences last saw the characters. However, the revival can learn from the failed final Scrubs Season’s mistakes.
JD, Elliot, Turk and Carla must remain the heart and soul of the series, but their relationships with new, younger doctors also require attention.
Although original characters are featured regularly in Scrubs Season 9, The Balance was mainly shifted towards the new faces. Faison’s Turk and John C. McGinley’s Dr. Cox are the only two left after the first couple of episodes, and they didn’t even get much attention. This may not be the case in Scrubs Season 10. There has to be a careful balance about which characters take center stage and when. JD, Elliot, Turk and Carla must remain the heart and soul of the series, but their relationships with new, younger doctors also require attention. Fortunately, it seems that Lawrence already gets this.
