What This Latest Casting Means for Scream 7
The franchise's newest stars will have to make up for their missing carpenter sisters
Originally intended to feature the return of Melissa Berrera and Jenna Ortega's Carpenter sisters, plans for Scream 7 underwent a major change after the controversial dismissal of the first. However, it is expected that the next Scream film could potentially try compensate for the loss of the Carpenter sisters by replacing them with Sidney's own children as the franchise's newest lead generation.
In 2022 Scream, Sidney Prescott is said to have three children with Detective Kincaid, two daughters and a young son. Although your daughters will probably be of appropriate school age during Scream 7, the couple's son would still only be in his pre-teen years at this moment of Scream timeline, and it's highly unlikely to be the role Rechner was just cast in.
Our Take on Who Sam Rechner Could Play in Scream 7
Kevin Williamson May Be Introducing a New Billy & Stu
As a horror franchise that is synonymous with playing with established horror tropes and genre references, it's likely that both of Sidney's daughters, reaching a similar age to the one she was during her first experience with Ghostface, will be instrumental in Scream 7 plot. As such, Williamson may also intend feature characters who are direct analogues of Skeet Ulrich's Billy Loomis and Matthew Lillard's Stu Macher. With that in mind, Rechner could play one of Sidney's daughter's school friends, or even potential boyfriend, and that relationship could be heavily impacted by her own past trauma.
However, although Rechner and Germann could potentially play Scream 7of new Billy and Stu, it would be very predictable for them to repeat the past and be revealed as the new Ghostface killers as well. Instead, Williamson likely has another shocking twist planned, though audiences will have to wait until early 2026 to find out exactly who will be next under Ghostface's iconic mask.
