Scary Movie 6 Officially Confirmed With Franchise Creators Set to Return After Leaving 23 Years Ago

horror movie 6 has been officially confirmed, with the Wayans brothers returning to the comedy-horror parody franchise 23 years after their departure. ONE horror movie The reboot was previously confirmed at CinemaCon in April 2024, with a theatrical release expected in 2025. While no details were announced at the time, the film was confirmed to be in active development, indicating there would be more concrete information about what to expect in a near future.

Now, Deadline confirmed that Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenan Ivory Wayans will be involved in horror movie 6a reboot of the franchise with a script by Rick Alvarez. It will be a new version of the horror parody franchise, with filming scheduled to begin in 2025 and released in theaters. The announcement was accompanied by a statement from Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman, who expressed excitement for the return:

We’re thrilled to reunite Scary Movie with the Wayans brothers, the brilliant creators behind the beloved franchise. The timing is perfect to bring the series back to the big screen and we are lucky to have Keenen, Marlon and Shawn’s unique comedic vision bringing it to audiences around the world.

The Wayans brothers also spoke to Deadline about their return, happy to not only bring the franchise back with a new, modern take, but also to work with Mixamax on it once again:

We couldn’t be more excited to be part of the new horror movie and work together again. This is a franchise we created over 20 years ago. We remember people laughing in the hallways and hope to see that happen again. We look forward to working with Jonathan Glickman and his team at the new Miramax to bring those laughs to theaters where they belong. It’s a double reunion.
