Sarah’s Ending and Fate Explained

The Descent Part 2 is a very exciting sequel to the phenomenal horror film, but the ending raises a lot of questions. 2009 The Descent 2 focuses on claustrophobic horror, following the events of The descent, which saw a team of friends on a spelunking expedition that turns into a fight for survival after a species of subterranean monsters called Crawlers are discovered in the caves. The group ends up fighting for their lives while fighting each other. Although the premise is simple, The Descent 2The ending of is much more ambiguous than its predecessor.

Director Jon Harris’ sequel to The Descent sends a distraught Sarah (Shauna Macdonald) – who returns after surviving the events of The Descent – and a rescue team descends back into the caves to find out if any of their friends are still alive. It’s not long before Sarah’s repressed memories return, as do the deadly Crawlers. The Descent Part 2 it makes clever use of space and utilizes this claustrophobic environment in new ways. However, The descends 2The ending of plays a lot up in the air, and just like in an underground maze, it can be easy to get lost.

What happens at the end of descent 2

Sarah kills the tracker leader, but it doesn’t do much good

The Descent 2The ending is not happy. Now that Detective Vaines and Cath are Crawler food, Rios (Krysten Cummings), Juno (Natalie Mendoza) and Sarah (Shauna Macdonald) try their best to find a way out. Unfortunately, the exit is blocked by a group of Crawlers et al.heir assumed as leader, who is the largest of the group. Greg is slowly dying nearby after sacrificing himself for Cath (Anna Skellern), and he spots the three remaining survivors.

As Sarah, Juno, and Rios try to sneak past him, he grabs Juno’s leg in a last-ditch effort to save himself. Juno lets out a scream, drawing the Crawlers to the group immediately. The team manages to fight the Crawlers, but at this moment, Greg (Josh Dallas from Thor fame) has completely disappeared and Juno is facing the leader alone. Sarah tries and fails to save her, and Juno is fatally stabbed in the stomach by the leader.

Sarah is able to kill the leader at the end of The Descent 2and then lures the rest of the Crawlers to her so that Rios can escape. Rios manages to get out of the cave, but she is thrown back by Ed and wakes up with a Crawler standing over her.

What happens to Sarah at the end of The Descent 2

Sarah was more than likely killed at the end of Descent 2

The Descent 2Sarah overcomes many things to survive in Neil Marshall’s original Descentso it’s especially tragic to see her come so close to death in this sequence. Sarah is the most experienced against the tracker threat, but also has a strong sense of honor and family, which eventually gets the better of her here, unlike The Descentis ending.

After Juno’s death, Sarah makes a noble gesture by attracting the trackers’ attention long enough to ensure Rios’ safety. It is certainly implied that Sarah, like Rios, will not survive this adventure. However, Sarah’s death is not shown explicitly; This somewhat open-ended conclusion was probably made intentionally with the hope of making a third installment of the The Descent a possibility. The Descent 2Sarah is a true warrior, but since The Descent 3 didn’t happen, it’s more likely that she died.

Sarah’s rescue team ultimately fails

It is unlikely that anyone on the team survived descent 2

Before The Descent 2is ending, the rescue mission to find Sarah’s friends turns sour very quickly, and Dan and Cath – two of the trained cavers who have been brought together for the mission – are the first to reach their objective by the trackers. Sheriff Vaines, who believes Sarah killed her friends, is handcuffed to Sarah to ensure she will not abandon him. After he literally becomes luggage, his hand is cut off so that he and some trackers fall to their deaths, but Sarah is able to survive.

Sarah, Juno and Rios arrive at the exit of these caves in The Descent 2is finishing, but is blocked by a group of trackers. Their cover is blown after Juno screams in fear as a dying Greg grabs her in an effort to save himself. Greg is eliminated by the Crawlers, and the rest of the team is left to fight the monsters.

Unfortunately, in the final moments of the horror film, Ed Oswald, the mine operator, catches Rios and throws her back into the mine.

Unfortunately, Sarah is unable to save Juno, who ends up being fatally cut by the main tracker. Sarah tries to draw the rest of the trackers’ attention to herself so that at least Rios can escape. Unfortunately, in the final moments of the horror film, Ed Oswald, the mine operator, catches Rios and throws her back into the mine.

Although Rios’ execution doesn’t explicitly happen, the first thing she witnesses after regaining consciousness is an angry tracker. The Descent 2The ending shows that the rescue team clearly failed in their mission and everyone is presumed dead.

Ed feeding the trackers

His betrayal may have been an attempt to ensure the trackers remained underground

One of the most distressing aspects The Descent 2Ed’s ending is when Ed decides to throw Rios back into the caves where the Crawlers live – right after she went through all that to get to safety. The final twist is confusing, to say the least, but it leaves open possibilities for a sequel which was probably the intention behind this act. Ed Oswald (Michael J. Reynolds) only appears in The Descent 2 to lead the rescue team to the caves through a mine shaft.

Perhaps there was something even more sinister behind his actions.

Based on his actions in the claustrophobic horror film, it’s clear that Ed knows exactly what’s hiding down there. He probably decided to feed Rios to the Crawlers in an effort to keep them happy and away from light in general.or perhaps there was something even more sinister behind his actions. Either way, the public won’t find out how The Descent 3 It’s not in the works anytime soon.

The true meaning of The Descent 2 ending

It is implied that Ed Oswald has a connection to the trackers

Sarah covered in blood in The Descent Part 2

The Descent 2The ending of is a real punch in the gut, where a happy ending is quickly ripped away from the characters and the audience. It is revealed that Ed Oswald is much more than just a creepy old man, but actually functions as an aid to the trackers. Great horror movie endings are rarely happy, and The Descent 2 is no different.

Oswald tries to feed Rios to the creatures in The Descent 2end of, which implies some level of ownership here. Oswald has a connection with these monsters and cares more about their survival than the rescue team. In fact, his entire effort to help the team with access to his mineshaft is more than likely a scheme to feed his creatures. He never wanted to help Sarah and company in The Descent Part 2.

How Descent 2’s ending was received

Most fans and critics hated the final twist

When looking at things like The Descent 2 ending, opinions will always vary depending on whether it is horror fans or the general public who watch the tragic ending. Horror fans often love dark endings, but mainstream audiences prefer to see something more positive with a glimmer of hope. By observing what the public is Rotten tomatoes I didn’t like the series, reviews indicated that the ending let it down. A positive reviewer gave it four stars, but counted one star because “I didn’t care about the ending either.” Another audience reviewer hated the whole twist with Oswald, writing: “the idea that they are being fed by people is so unlikely and offensive to the viewer.” Another reviewer didn’t care for the ending, but wished it was explained better, writing:

The ending was very full of action and emotion, the only thing stopping me is a twist involving the mine owner or something. It wasn’t really explained and it was dumb, but other than that it’s still a pretty good horror sequel in my opinion.

ONE Reddit a thread was also created discussing Oswald’s role in the final moments of The Descent Part 2. The OP tried to make sense of the ultimate betrayal, wondering what his motive was. However, one Redditor thinks they’ve figured out why, writing: “I think he does this to keep the creatures a secret from the rest of the city/government/world. He knows that the police chief will tell everyone what really happens there and he doesn’t want that to happen.
