Sakamoto Days is being considered the next big anime hit, but this decision may be premature

Dias Sakamoto It’s one of the biggest running manga Shōnen Jump now, and this has created a lot of excitement for their upcoming anime. The manga features some of the most creative and beautiful action ever. shōnen manga, so if a competent anime studio found a way to bring this to life, it would solidify Dias Sakamoto‘ reputation as one of the best manga anyone could read.

There has been incredible hype for the Dias Sakamoto anime, but that started to decline for the worst reasons. The first full trailer for Dias Sakamoto was recently released, which gave people their first detailed look at what the anime would be like, and unfortunately, all presented in Dias Sakamoto trailer leaves people skeptical about the quality of the anime. Some of the concerns are more exaggerated than others, but unfortunately, it’s pretty easy to see why people are nervous about its quality.

Sakamoto Days’ animation is nothing like what people expected

Most people expected the action of the Dias Sakamoto manga to translate into incredibly crisp and fluid animation, not unlike shows like Jujutsu Kaisen and One punch man season 1, but instead what people saw was a lot of slow motion and scenes that recreated the manga rather than doing anything creative with the source material. Nothing in the trailer looked bad, but the main problem people are facing Dias Sakamoto is that it doesn’t seem to be the Sakuga-full production they expectedand people are already losing hope and interest because of it.

As for why the animation looks relatively subpar, the blame may lie with the animation studio, TMS Entertainment. 2025 will be an incredibly busy year for TMS Entertainment, as in addition to Dias Sakamotothey will be working Dr. Stone 4th season, the new Detective Conan film, and the second half of Blue Boxthen Dias Sakamoto‘the quality of the animation could be because TMS Entertainment is too preoccupied with other projects to put their all into it. It’s understandable if that’s the case, but it’s disappointing for those who wanted Dias Sakamoto be a top priority regardless.

Sakamoto Days’ animation only looks bad because of people’s ridiculous expectations

Sakamoto Days doesn’t seem as bad as people say

Although people have the right to criticize Dias Sakamoto‘animation, calling it bad is a blatant exaggeration. Based on the trailer, the anime appears to be doing a competent job of bringing the manga to life, even if it doesn’t have many details. SakugaTherefore, although there are criticisms to be made, much of the discourse surrounding Dias Sakamoto seems to result from people unfairly expecting it to be of similar quality to shows like Jujutsu Kaisen or Psycho Mafia 100although it’s rare for an anime to get an adaptation on these levels.

While animation should always influence the overall quality of an anime, as more and more anime with consistently beautiful animation are released, some people have started to feel that anything other than that is automatically terrible, and as such, Dias Sakamoto is the last anime to be criticized just because its animation is not among the best in anime. Ideally, Dias Sakamoto will better show what it’s capable of when it properly premieres in January 2025, and when it does, it’ll regain a lot of the hype that was lost thanks to the trailer.
