Virgin River Season 7 could include a dark and tragic fate for Charmaine if one fan theory is correct, ending a 3-year story for Mel at the same time. The romantic drama is Netflix's longest-running scripted TV show still being released, with six seasons released and Virgin River Season 7 on the way. Since Netflix renewed the next season before the release of the previous one, Virgin River season 6 could end on a major cliffhanger, knowing viewers will find a resolution.
The big mystery involves Charmaine, Jack's lover turned enemy turned friend. Although she has had a contentious relationship with Jack and Mel, the pair grow closer to her in Virgin River season 6. Jack helps her get a restraining order against the twins' father, Calvin, and Charmaine offers to do Mel's hair for the wedding. However, she misses the wedding, so Jack goes to check on her. It's unclear what's in her apartment, but whatever he finds shakes Jack, the most unflappable character in Virgin River. After the shocking cliffhanger at the end of Virgin River Season 6, fans began to speculate about what really happened to Charmaine. A dark theory of Reddit user u/HauntsFromMyPast suggests that Charmaine is actually dead. They predict that after obtaining a restraining order on Virgin River in season 6, the twins' father, Calvin, murdered her. If the theory is correct, the justice system will send Calvin to prison and Mel and Jack will raise the twins. While it's disturbing to think of a semi-lovable main character being murdered, this theory isn't entirely unfounded.
Calvin showed himself to be a violent man who exerts his will. It's not out of the question for him to murder someone. Furthermore, in Virgin River season 1, Mel explains that she could have temporary custody of baby Chloe because she is a doctor. Theoretically, she and Jack could take in the twins as foster parents, and that could transition the children into adoption. Typically, reunification is the primary goal of the orphanage, but in this case, the state would not have the opportunity to reunite the babies with their parents again.
Mel Raising Charmaine's Kids Would Likely End the Pregnancy Storyline That Started in Season 4

Mel's journey through infertility began long before her pregnancy began. Virgin Riverbut it becomes increasingly important to your character's arc over time. However, the emotional impact of her experience becomes an integral part of her story in season 4 when Mel becomes pregnant with Jack's child. They are both incredibly excited about the prospect of having children. Unfortunately, halfway Virgin River Season 5, she loses the baby.
Mel and Jack discuss the idea of trying for a child again, with Jack wanting to work on getting pregnant naturally while Mel wants to stop. Eventually, they decide that adoption is the right choice for them. If they adopted Charmaine's twins, that would seemingly end their trying to have a child story. Instead, their storyline would transition into jointly navigating parenthood.

While the Charmaine theory is interesting, the ending of Virgin River season 6 makes the probability miniscule. Throughout the season, Mel helps with prenatal care for a young woman who plans to give her baby to a family living in the town of Virgin River. However, in the last moments of the finale, the young woman tells Mel that her adoptive parents gave upand she wants Mel and Jack to take the baby.

When speaking with Tudum about the history of adoption in Virgin River In Season 6, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith hinted that Mel's patient's biological son would become her baby. He said this:
“It is important to look for alternative ways of becoming parents. I feel like I've always seen adoption as just a very simple 'she wants a baby and you don't want your baby' transaction. But it's much more complex than that. So I want to see a really special journey between Mel and Jack as they discover the baby that was made just for them.”
Based on this description, it appears that Mel and Jack may be able to navigate the adoption journey with the young girl that Mel has cared for throughout the process. Virgin River season 6. If they welcome her baby, the likelihood of them also raising Charmaine's twins is low. Fortunately, the couple taking on the twins may not even be necessary, based on Charmaine's fate in the Virgin River books. She doesn't die in Robyn Carr's novels. Plus, Charmaine dying at the hands of an abusive ex is exceptionally dark — more than anything Virgin River has done so far. It seems more likely that Charmaine is alive to raise her own twins.
