The set photos show Benedict interacting with a masked Sophie As they attend Dowager Violent’s masquerade ball. The on-screen couple get remarkably close in a few shots, as they dance, run down the stairs and get intimate. What the first set of pictures of Benedict and Sophie mean for Bridgerton season 4

Season 4 is Sticking to the Book.

When the Bridgerton Season 3 finale revealed that Dowager Violent was hosting a masquerade ball, it was pretty much certain that Benedict’s love story was next. A proposal from a gentleman Opens with the famous masquerade ball, where the second-born Bridgerton son becomes engaged to a mysterious masked debutante known as the Lady in Silver. The young lady happens to be Sophie, an illegitimate daughter of an earl. The opener is similar to a Cinderella story, where the following events lead Benedict to long for the mystery lady while entangled in a forbidden love story.

Season 4 would need to invest all the time in the couple in the eight episodes since there is a two-year time jump right after the masquerade event in the book.

Benedict and Sophie’s story was the most anticipated among Bridgerton Readers, especially since the series is out of order. Despite the extended wait, the set images confirm that key book elements will be recreated on screen, including the masquerade ball and apparently the lake scene. This is important because season 3 faced criticism for its book changes, where many audiences felt that Colin and Penelope’s romance was rushed in favor of establishing other stories. Season 4 would need to invest all the time in the couple in the eight episodes since there is a two-year time jump right after the masquerade event in the book.

Our take on the first pictures of Benedict and Sophie’s masquerade meeting

Season 4 needs to balance book accuracy and change.

As someone who has read these Bridgerton Books, I could not contain my emotions when I saw the photos of the masquerade scene. This is one of the biggest events in the book that changes Benedict’s attitude about marriage and love, and Sophie’s upbringing is a key part of this. He was one of the fan-favorite characters on the show, so it was disappointing when the series ended up delaying his story. At the very least, these images mean that audiences are one step closer to Benedict’s story finally being created for the silver screen, especially since his arc started to lose some rhythm in season 3.

Even with the confirmation that the masquerade ball will be recreated, there are still questions about how much season 4 will change novel details since Book Benedict is different from Show Benedict. The novel version comes off as a bit aggressive and pushy when he interacts with Sophie, which is in contrast to the more respected show version. Although it’s hard to tell what else is going on in their dance scene, hopefully, Bridgerton Season 4 will remain nearly book-accurate, while also taking the necessary steps to change details about Benedict that are on par with the show’s iteration.
