What the film means for the Rugrats franchise
Rugrats has taken several styles
In some ways, it is no surprise that a life-struggle Rugrats Movie is in development. With the latest Nickelodeon remake, The show is clearly gaining some interest again. Furthermore, remaking classic animated shows and movies in a live-action format is currently a trendy adaptation style. While mostly popularized by Disney live-action adaptations such as Cinderella, Beauty & the BeastAnd The Little MermaidIt makes sense that Nickelodeon would like to ride this wave as well.

The live-action movie format is also kind of the last remaining step for Rugrats If it were to be rebooted in a new way. as it says, The two television versions of the franchise are already in two different art stylesWith the first using hand-drawn animation and the second using computer animation. Rugrats‘ Feature film treatment was in the animated form. With TV shows and animated movies behind it, it seems like a live-action film version of Rugrats is the natural progression of the franchise.
How will Rugrats live-action be cast?
Rugrats characters are challenging to recreate
Hear the news from the live-action Rugrats movie, I’m left questioning how this will be cast? The main characters are all toddlers, but in the original series, they are voiced by adults. Good toddler actors are hard to come by, let alone multiple good toddler actors. As the movie is taking a live-action hybrid approach, voice actors and a mix of CGI seem the most likely. Like these Rugrats The movie continues development, the casting will be what most intrigues me about the film.
