Alien: Romulus is one of the most celebrated films of 2024, taking the long-running franchise back to its roots and once again delivering a great sci-fi horror story. THE Foreigner The film franchise has had its ups and downs over the years, but this latest outing proved that the franchise still has many more stories to tell. Alien: Romulus was reviewed very well, receiving much praise from critics and audiences alike, and earned enough at the box office to warrant the Foreigner the franchise will continue.
One of Foreigner: Rômulo The strongest offering is its large cast, made up of a group of young people who have spent their lives working in a Weyland-Yutani colony. The film is obviously intended to evoke the feelings of the original Foreigner films, being a film about a group of people trying to survive attacks from a Xenomorph in outer space, but in particular, there is a deleted scene from Aliens which served as inspiration for the entire film.
Alien: Romulus Characters Call Back to Kids in Deleted Alien Scene
The scene was cut from the special edition of Aliens
In extras for Foreigner: Rômulo, director Fede Álvarez says that the younger characters present in Romulo were directly inspired by a deleted scene from Aliens special edition, in which two Weyland-Yutani employees discuss their work before shooing away a group of children playing in the colony where they shouldn’t. THE Foreigner the franchise has a lot of great deleted scenes, and while this one flew under the radar, Álvarez wondered what would happen to children who grew up in a small colony like thatbeing forced to run and play in dangerous metal corridors.
Using Alien: Romulus giving more of a glimpse into the lives of the normal people living under Weyland-Yutani’s rule is a great way to expand the universe.
Although children were only shown briefly in the Aliens deleted scene, and although they were never mentioned again, its existence was certainly enough to raise many questions about the franchiseand using Alien: Romulus giving more of a glimpse into the lives of the normal people living under Weyland-Yutani’s rule is a great way to expand the universe. Taking inspiration from an obscure deleted scene from Aliens shows how much the creators are reverent to the original, even if sometimes Romulo It has a lot of references and Easter eggs.
Alien: Romulus shows what could have happened to Newt if she survived in a colony
Newt’s life could have been ruined in a different way
In AliensRipley finds Newt as the only remaining inhabitant of a Weyland-Yutani colony that was ravaged by a group of Xenomorphs. They try to survive the Xenomorph incursion, and it ends with Ripley and Newt returning to Earth as two of the mission’s few survivors. However, what happens in Alien: Romulus is indicative of the dark and miserable fate that could have befallen Newt had his colony not been destroyed. The people in Jackson’s Star are living in povertyspending years working in terrible conditions, hoping to leave for a better place, which, for Rain and Andy, is Yvaga III.
While narrowly surviving an attack from a Xenomorph queen is certainly no picnic, the alternative shown doesn’t appear to be much better. If Newt’s colony hadn’t been attacked, the chances that she would have died in the mines or some other equally dangerous job are quite high. Rain and Bjorn’s parents were killed due to working in the mines, and it seemed clear that most of the colonists were destined to end up there no matter what. Alien: Romulus it shows that living in the Wey-Yu colonies is harsh and unforgiving, and in doing so, it gives a glimpse into what life might have been like for Newt.
Alien: Romulus is the seventh film in the Alien franchise. The film is directed by Fede Álvarez and will focus on a new group of young characters who encounter the terrifying Xenomorphs. Alien: Romulus is an independent film and takes place in a time not yet explored in the Alien franchise.
