Notice! This post contains SPOILERS for Alien: Romulus
Alien: Romulus is the most recent chapter of the beloved Fox Foreigner franchise, featuring a collection of incredibly scary moments featuring one of cinema’s most terrifying alien specimens. Set between first and second Foreigner movies, Fede Álvarez Romulo was very well received, having a strong mix of nostalgia and at the same time exploring some new ideas in the Foreigner universe. It also generates some very satisfying moments of pure terror and suspense.
In Alien: Romulusa team of disenfranchised young miners are tired of working incessantly for the Weyland-Yutani corporation. This motivates them to invade an abandoned research station in orbit in search of their cryogenic pods, which will allow them to travel to a new colony world. However, they realize too late that the station has been attacked by a recovered XX121 Xenomorph which quickly turned into a whole horde of classic sci-fi monsters. To that end, here are the 10 scariest moments from Alien: RomulusRanked from least to scariest.
10
Rook Reactivation
(both times)
In the first act of Alien: Romulusthe remains of a synthesizer known as the Rook are found and it is eventually reactivated. This allows the miners to learn the truth about what happened to the space station and its crew, and how to save Navarro (Aileen Wu), who was implanted by a facehug (one of the early stages of the xenomorph’s growth cycle). Resembling Ian Holm’s Ash from the first Foreignerboth of Rook’s activations are solid scares, some of the first in the new Foreigner film.

Rain catches between Xenomorph and Facehugger
A rare moment in Foreigner Franchise
Near the end of Alien: Romulus When Rain (Cailee Spaeny) and Andy (David Jonnson) are riding the elevator before gravity kicks in, Rain finds herself in a rare and absolutely horrific situation. After falling into the well and being caught by a chasing xenomorph, Rain gets trapped between this adult xeromorph and a facehugger who starts crawling towards him. In the past Foreigner In films, facehuggers rarely appear late in the film, as the threat usually moves to fully grown xenomorphs. As such, it’s equally thrilling and horrifying to see both creatures at the same time.
8
The Xenomorph Nest
Preparing for Tyler’s death
On the bottom floor of the research station, Rain and Andy lose Tyler (Archie Renaux) after rescuing Kay (Isabela Merced) from the xenomorphs who took her back to the nest. To this end, the nest is filled with corpses of the station’s crew that were taken and used to increase the number of creatures.. To that end, Romulo shows how many xenomorphs were on board the station after Tyler was stabbed and pulled to the ceiling, managing to see the horde of aliens arriving just before he died.
7
The Facehuggers waking up from cryosleep
Swarming from the water
The miners’ first contact with the aliens is incredibly frightening. In an attempt to catch fuel for the cryo-capsules, the rising temperature causes several cryogenically frozen facehuggers to wake up and fall into the water below.. Swimming around and attacking the miners before they finally attack, it’s scary to see how fast the facehuggers can actually move, especially thanks to the more modern effects compared to the past. Foreigner films.
6
The Facehuggers corridor
An extremely stressful and frightening situation
After Bjorn (Spike Fearn) takes a deployed Navarro back to the ship (which then crashes into the station’s hangar), Andy, Tyler, and Rain are trying to get to Kay before she is taken by the Xenomorph, who ends up killing Navarro and Bjorn. . As such, they are forced to travel down a hallway filled with multiple face huggers.. Having matched the hallway’s temperature to their core body temperature to give them a fighting chance, the sheer stress of the moment and the fact that Kay is in danger inevitably raises their body temperature, exposing them to the spider-like creatures they are exposed to. barely survive.
5
Xenomorph Cocoon
Bjorn killed with acidic blood
Aboard the miners’ ship known as THE Corbelan, Bjorn comes face to face with a cocoon that was apparently created between the chest burst stage and the adult xenomorph stage of the life cycle.. Attacking the pod with the stun baton, Bjorn is stabbed by the newborn xenon before the alien’s acidic blood melts his fingers and parts of his face. It’s a truly horrific and tragic death, one that proves just how dangerous a xenomorph can be even after it’s been injured (the alien’s “swan song,” as Rook calls it).
4
Navarro using the X-ray device
Revealing the Chestburster inside her
Shortly before Bjorn’s death occurred Navarro’s murder, which is arguably even worse and much more horrific. While it’s also an incredibly iconic death seen throughout the Foreigner franchise, this one has an even darker twist. Having found a portable X-ray machine aboard the station, Navarro uses it to scan his body. This horrifyingly allows her and viewers to actively see the chest burster breaking her ribs and exiting her chest from inside her own body. Although deaths from chest blasts are incredibly common in the Foreigner franchise, this one is quite notable thanks to this x-ray devicemaking everything even more scary and horrible.
3
The offspring egg
A disturbing human-xeno hybrid
Having used the “Promethean Fire” serum known as Z-01 to heal her wounds, the substance derived from xenomorph biology results in the quick birth of the previously pregnant Kay. However, Kay’s son suffered a horrific mutation due to the serum, resulting in an extremely disturbing half-human, half-xenomorph hybrid who has been referred to as “The Offspring” in Alien: Romulus. As such, Kay gives birth to an egg that opens to reveal what appears to be a baby’s face. However, the accelerated growth only began in the film’s final act.
2
First look at adult offspring
Extremely disturbing
Within moments of his birth, The Offspring quickly grows into his fully adult form at the end of Alien: Romuluspossessing as many disfigured human features as those of a xenomorph. Likewise, the moment Andy turns around to see this disturbing hybrid for the first time is one viewers won’t soon forget.. Looking back at the silent Andy in the hallway, the Offspring begin to quickly crawl to get to Kay, their “mother”. Although the idea of a human/xenomorph hybrid has been explored before in Foreigner franchise, Alien: Romulus takes the idea to a whole new level.
1
The final scene of the offspring
Foreigner: Rômulo Last (and best) jump scare
Last but not least, the final scene of The Offspring serves to be one of the scariest moments in Foreigner: Rômulo. Having opened the bottom of the THE Corbelan to the cold vacuum of space, the final act makes it seem like Rain has successfully freed himself from the horrible hybrid by donning a spacesuit and strapping himself to the ship. A triumphant song even begins to play, only to be interrupted by the big scare that is the sudden and terrifying return of The Offspring.
Attempting to break Rain’s helmet with his second xenomorph-style mouth, the Offspring manages to break the visor before he loses control and is disintegrated by LV-410’s rings. As Rain survives and prepares the ship to travel to the new colony world or Yvaga, this haunting final scene with The Offspring is easily one of the scariest moments in the entire film.
Alien: Romulus is now available in digital format.
