Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Alien: Romulus!
The Offspring is a terrifying new creature that will be introduced in 2024 Alien: Romulusand here are eight important details about the alien’s design that you may have missed. For most of the film’s running time, Alien: Romulus is concerned with making the Xenomorphs his main antagonist, with Rain, Andy and the rest of the Alien: Romulus launched facing them while aboard the Romulo space station. However, the final act of Alien: Romulus introduces an all-new creature known as The Offspring, and the monster’s brief appearance introduces all sorts of connections to the wider world. Foreigner franchise.
All over Alien: Romulusit is mentioned that Kay is pregnant, a detail about the Alien: Romulus character who does not return to the game until the end of the film. Alien: Romulus brings back the black goo Prometheusthis being behind the creation of The Offspring. After being fatally injured, Kay decides to use the black goo to save herself. This causes her baby to evolve inside her, with Kay giving birth to a disgusting cocoon that contains The Offspring. The Offspring has a spooky design, with the Alien: Romulus monster featuring these eight design details.

The height of the offspring
It’s over 7 years old, feel tall
One of the most apparent things about The Offspring in Alien: Romulus It’s your height. Despite starting as a babyhe quickly evolves into a much taller version of himself, towering over Rain during their final battle. In the film, The Offspring is 7 feet tall, showing that the monster is much taller than the average human. This makes the creature even more threatening, being much larger than the Xenomorphs, Engineers and other enemies that have been encountered throughout the game. Foreigner franchise.
Much of The Offspring’s height is due to the actor who played it in Alien: Romulus. Basketball player Robert Bobroczkyi is inside The Offspring costume, with the athlete standing 7’7″ in real life. Bobroczkyi was chosen for the role due to his imposing stature, allowing a much more realistic creature of this height to be made. Not much had to be added to The Offspring for the monster to reach this height and scale, with Robert Bobroczkyi having roughly the same proportions as the final boss in Alien: Romulus.

The offspring’s tail
It’s the same as Xenomorphs
Another notable aspect of The Offspring’s design in Alien: Romulus It’s the creature’s tail. Although The Offspring has some human attributes that are visible in its design, the tail is a far cry from Kay’s baby’s appearance, this addition being purely a product of the black goo’s evolution. The Offspring’s massive tail hangs from its pelvis to the ground, making it quite long when considering the alien’s height. It then curves again in the air, with the appendage appearing prehensile.
The offspring’s tail looks almost exactly like the tails seen on Xenomorphs throughout the Foreigner franchise, with the biggest change to its design being the color. Much like the Xenomorph, the Offspring’s tail appears bony, being made up of tons of different segments rather than being completely smooth. Additionally, the Offspring’s tail ends in a huge point. This allows it to use its tail as a weapon, having the ability to stab its prey in the same way as the Xenomorph.

The evolving face of offspring
This changes over the course of Alien: The End of Romulus
Throughout The Offspring’s appearance in Alien: Romulushis face evolves several times, this being one of the most frightening aspects of the monster. When The Offspring is first seen, he is emerging from his cocoon, with the acidic blood causing him to melt into the ground. Before falling, the audience can briefly see The Offspring’s face, looking like a relatively normal baby face.
When Rain sees The Offspring again, it’s a completely different story. Although The Offspring’s face appears more human than the Xenomorph’s, its odd proportions and elongated facial features make it look a little strange. The monster’s black eyes and sharp teeth make it look menacing, although it looks a bit pitiful when it makes some facial expressions. As the fight progresses, however, The Offspring’s face becomes increasingly monstrous, opening up and becoming increasingly frightening.
The offspring in Alien: Romulus is actually incredibly similar to The Newborn from Alien: Resurrection. Much like The Offspring, The newborn is a hybrid of human and xenomorphwith human eyes and other facial features mixed with a Xenomorph head.

The claws of the offspring
One of the monster’s greatest weapons
Another weapon at The Offspring’s disposal are its claws, another aspect that makes the monster incredibly dangerous. The Offspring’s slender arms end in enormous hands that, while appearing human, are much larger than Rain’s or Kay’s hands. At the end of each of the long fingers is a sharp claw, with The Offspring using them to attack Rain during battle.
These claws also resemble the claws that can be seen on the hands of Xenomorphs, this being another way in which Xenomorph DNA influenced Kay’s baby’s DNA. This likely means that these claws are one of the natural evolutionary endpoints that the black goo from Prometheus often achieves, as seen with several aliens in the franchise.

The rear holes of the offspring
Its purpose is never explained
One of the strangest parts of The Offspring’s design is its back, something that can only be seen briefly throughout its appearance in Alien: Romulus. The offspring has four holes in its back, remaining open throughout its appearance and presumably being direct paths into the monster’s interior. The reason for these back holes is never explained in Alien: Romuluswith their pale skin and the fact that they are in a humanoid body making them incredibly frightening.
These back holes aren’t exclusive to The Offspring, however. In fact, they can also be seen in all Xenomorphs. These holes were part of the Xenomorph’s original design, with some of the concept art showing tubes coming out of them and connecting them to walls and other sticky substances. The function of the rear holes and Xenomorph tubes was never explained in the Foreigner franchise, although they are the subject of much discussion. The Offspring is never seen with pipes on its back, making these holes even more mysterious.
3
The harm of offspring
How does the rain kill the alien?
As Rain fights The Offspring Alien: Romulus, the creature becomes increasingly damagedwith this continuing until their death as they abandon the Romulo space station. While fighting Rain, black goo begins to emerge from The Offspring’s mouth. It looks like blood, although it doesn’t look acidic, something that is one of the defining characteristics of ForeignerXenomorph.
Additionally, The Offspring receives multiple wounds all over his body, making the monster appear even scarier. Despite its stature, it appears to be more easily damaged than the Xenomorph, the latter being a product of The Offspring’s youth or its human DNA. Fortunately, The Offspring is ultimately killed by Rain when he falls into the ship’s cargo hold. Rain then ejects the Cargo Pod, with The Offspring falling into the same planetary rings that destroy the Romulo space station.

The baby shape of the offspring
Born in a cocoon
Although The Offspring is primarily seen in its largest form in the final act of Alien: RomulusThis isn’t the only form the creature takes in the film. In fact, audiences briefly see The Offspring as a baby, disappearing before resurfacing in his full monster form. Upon birth, The Offspring causes severe damage to Kay. Instead of being born as a baby, Kay gives birth to a cocoon, which looks like the fruits from which Xenomorphs emerge. Alien: Romulus.
At birth, the cocoon opens, spilling a strange liquid. This liquid turns out to be acidic, much like the Xenomorph’s blood. The acid burns the ship’s soil, allowing the pod to fall into the cargo hold. When it opens, the audience gets a brief glimpse of baby Offspring. The Offspring’s baby form looks quite human, with the black goo likely making a big impact during the time the monster is off-screen.

The offspring engineer’s connections
They may be due to the influence of the Black Goo
While The Offspring are clearly a mix of humans and Xenomorphs, they also share many attributes with another species: the Engineers. The Engineers are a species of aliens who were first introduced in Prometheuswith the Engineers being the first to make the black goo. Although they didn’t evolve through the black goo, David even killed many Engineers with it in Alien: Alliancesome have attempted to use it, potentially creating a connection between the Engineers and the evolutionary patterns of the black goo.
The Offspring has the same light skin as the Engineers, which is the first connection. The Offspring also has a bald head and a hairless body, another attribute that is shared with the Engineers. Most notably, however, both the Offspring and Engineers have large black eyes, suggesting a connection between the Prometheus characters and the final alien in Alien: Romulus.
