Warning! Spoilers for Absolute Power: Super Son #1!Batman is a deeply paranoid man, however Robin was always the one hero he trusted above almost all others. Batman trained Robin and has no problem taking him on the field, but there is one hero who trusts Robin even more than Batman, as suggested by Damian Wayne’s strange new costume courtesy of Superman Jon Kent.
The one hero who trusts Robin even more than Batman is, of course, none other than Jon Kent, which is made perfectly clear in a preview for Absolute Power: Super Sun #1 by Sina Grace, Nicole Maines, John Timms and Travis Mercer. After the events of Absolute power By Mark Waid and Dan Mora, Jon recovers from being taken over by Amanda Waller’s Brainiac Queen, and he reveals just how deeply he trusted Damian—even if He casts Robin, in a new costume, as his imaginary limo driver.
Damian and Jon have a long history together, so it’s no surprise that when Jon needs someone to tell him to wake up from the mind control Waller has put him under, it’s Damian that he imagines instead of his other friends or family.
Superman Jon Kent trusts Damian Wayne with his entire reality
Absolute Power: Super Sun #1 by Sina Grace, Nicole Maines, John Timms, Travis Mercer, Hi-Fi, Adriano Lucas, Pete Pantazis, Rex Lokus and Dave Sharpe
Like their fathers, Damian and Jon have made an amazing team for years And have become the best of friends. While they initially started out as rivals, they quickly found some more friendly feet to stand on. Since they were the only person they could really rely on each other. When Damian was going through issues with Batman, it was Jon he turned to and talked to. Likewise, after Jon returned a few years older, now a teenager instead of an elementary-aged child, Damian was one of the few characters who didn’t treat him differently.
Check out the origins of Jon and Damian’s friendship in the original Super sons series by Peter J. Tomasi and Jorge Jiménez, available now both digitally and in collected editions from DC Comics.
It makes perfect sense that in his moment of need, Jon would think about the one character who had never let him down. Damian was always there for him and always supported him. As amazing as Jon’s father is, there have been times that Superman has let Jon down, such as allowing Jon to go off on a wild space adventure that resulted in him being tortured for years. There were moments that Jon had friction with his father, but almost never with Damian – not after overcoming their initial rivalry – and the new preview proved just how much Jon really trusted Damian, how his subconscious goes to Damian over anyone else .
Robin Damian Wayne and Superman Jon Kent will always be the super sons
This is a lifelong friendship
Jon made a lot of friends during his time as Superman — including Dreamer, who also appeared in the preview — but none of those friends were part of the Super Sons like Damian was. This gives Damian a unique connection with Jon that no other character has, and Jon imagining Damian as the driver – guiding him to where he needs to go – is perfectly symbolic of how important Damian is to him. No matter what happens or how allegations change, the one thing that will always be true is that Superman Jon Kent and Robin Damian Wayne are best friends, and they trust each other more than anyone else.
