Rest 2 Offers a number of difficulty settings for its campaign, and most of these options unlock unique rewards upon completion. As a soullike game that shakes things up with a mix between swords, guns and other eclectic weapons, Rest 2 Offers a high level of challenge to those who seek it. Beating the game on its more intense difficulty settings can be intensely difficult, so the value of the rewards for completing such a task is especially important.
The full slate of difficulties offered in Rest 2 consists of Survivor, Veteran, Nightmare and ApocalypseA list of names that makes it clear how difficult any of these can be. As the easiest difficulty to beat in the game, Survivor does not offer unique rewards, but each setting above it introduces something new to urge players forward. Survivor, Veteran, and Nightmare are all available by default, while unlocking Apocalypse requires the player to beat the final boss at least once. Newcomers are better off ignoring this particular challenge, but veterans of the first game or the Soulslike genre may more feasibly step up to the challenge.

Veteran is the easiest non-normal difficulty mode and is available from the start of the game. As its name implies, It is designed for those already familiar with Rests gameplayIdeally, those who have already completed the first one Rest Play and you are looking for an equivalent challenge. It is, however, significantly harder than Survivor difficulty; Enemy damage is scaled by 115%, enemy HP by 150%, and boss damage/HP by 165%. Once players beat the game on this setting, they will receive the Smolder Melee Weapon and Spore Bloom Long Rifle.
Experience is also scaled based on difficulty; The higher the difficulty mode, the more XP the player gains.
Nightmare difficulty is even harder, and still scaling enemy damage and HP. The game even warns players on the difficulty select screen that Nightmare Mode is “Not recommended as a starting point.” Nightmare is ideal for those who have been beaten Rest 2 At least once, and are comfortable with their build. It increases enemy damage by 350%, HP by 175%, boss damage by 262% and boss HP by 312.5%. Thankfully, there’s a nice little reward at the end of it: the Repulsor Long Rifle and the Hero’s Sword (yes, that’s a Seldom Easter egg in Rest 2.)

Finally, there is apocalypse. The hardest of all difficulty settings is not available from the start of the game; Players will have to beat the game’s final boss on any other difficulty setting before they can start a game on Apocalypse. It scales up all enemy stats to the maximum: 450% for enemy damage, 275% for enemy HP, 405% for boss damage and 412% for boss HP. This makes it by far the most unforgiving way to play Rest 2. Death will be frequent to the point of frustration, even for experienced players with good builds.
