Building on the success of the first two seasons, the animated superhero series Invincible promises to be even bigger in season 3. Based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, the show follows ordinary teenager Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) who lives in the shadow of his superhero father, until he starts developing powers on his 17th birthday. and discovers his father's dark legacy. Offering a subtle and nuanced view of superheroes, Kirkman's Invincible comics were the perfect fodder for an original series as comic book movies and franchises became more introspective.

The first season of Invincible was met with overwhelming praise from critics who applauded the show's sharp animation, strong writing, and excellent performances (via Rotten tomatoes). With Invincible In the second season, introducing a multiverse and changes to the timeline going forward, the series picked up another pace without losing much of the charm and witty commentary that made the first season so successful. The fate of Invincible Season 3 was never in doubt, but show creators like Robert Kirkman have been very vocal about the upcoming season, which has shed light on the series' future.

Invincible Season 3 Story Details

Where will Invincible go next?

Mark Grayson and Eve talking outside their lockers in Invincible Season 1

The end of Invincible Season 2 left a lot of loose threads to be tied up in Season 3 and beyond. First, Mark's battle with Angstrom Levy culminated in the former beating the latter (apparently to death, although the comics say otherwise). This represents an important threshold that Mark has never crossed before, and there will be emotional ramifications in the future. With more fights approaching, Mark must resist the same impulses that make his father so despicable.

Elsewhere, Mark still hasn't confessed his true feelings for Eveand the “won't they” storyline is expected to continue into season three. Although the first teaser trailer was somewhat silly, it teases Mark's future, including his training with Cecil. As the trailer suggests, more Viltrumites are coming, and Invincible needs to be at his best to avoid being defeated again.

Along with the release date, Amazon Prime Video released a teaser trailer to Invincible third season that features some tongue-in-cheek humor. The trailer shows Mark having lunch at a diner when Cecil teleports in to interrupt things. They argue about Mark's bad habits and make fun of the show's long hiatus. Cecil reprimands Mark and informs him that he will oversee his training in the future and that they need to prepare for more Viltrumite threats.

With just a few months left until the show's return, Prime Video has revealed a full trailer to Invincible season 3 in December 2024. The trailer catches up with Mark as he continues to train with Cecil to become a more efficient hero. However, their relationship is strained by Cecil's apparent disregard for Mark's moral code. Meanwhile, Omni-Man still feels guilty about betraying his people and Allen the Alien tries to bring him to his good side. Finally, Mark gets his blue suit and Oliver begins to forge his own path as a hero.
