Release date, cast, story and everything we know

Dividing the Tony-winning musical in half on the big screen, Wicked Part Two It's scheduled to arrive in 2025 and there are already lots of interesting details. Based on the musical of the same name by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman, Evil takes place in the world of L. Frank Baum Wizard of Ozand follows Galinda (the eventual good witch) and Elphaba (the eventual bad witch) as they attend the prestigious Shiz University. The theatrical production was a smash hit and it was natural for Hollywood to call, but delays pushed the box office success further and further down the road.

When the film finally arrived in 2024, Evil was met with stellar reviews that placed special emphasis on the scale of the film and the performances of the main cast. While changes to the stage production were inevitable when adapting a Broadway musical, the more ambitious choice was to split the story into two separate films. Mimicking the show's two-act structure Wicked Part Two will cover the second act of the epic tale and conclude the main chapter of the Oz story with a bang. Wicked Part Two It already has a release date and anticipation is growing for the gravity-defying sequel.

Although the second half of the musical adaptation was always due in 2025, the latest news confirms that Wicked Part Two will change its release date. Initially scheduled for release in December, the film quickly abandoned that date in favor of November 26th. However, it was announced in late 2024 that Wicked Part Two would rise five days earlier to November 21, 2025in order to avoid competition with Disney Zootopia 2.

There's no telling if the film will change its release date again, but the 21st seems like the most logical location, as it's almost a year after the first installment's wide release. The Thanksgiving holiday is usually a good time for big Hollywood productions, and if the first film manages to become a box office hit, the sequel could follow suit, copying its release strategy.
