Psylocke Writer Teases New X-Men ‘Love Triangle’

Famous psychic ninja and main member of the X-Men. Psylockeis heading towards a new novel guaranteed to send shockwaves through the Marvel mutant community. As Cyclops takes on missions to put his exceptional ninja skills into practice, writer Alyssa Wong teases a “love triangle” that will also have Kannon fans’ imaginations working overtime in anticipation.

The upcoming series will be a dark character study that will delve into Cannon’s past stories, past relationships, and personalities, with the exception of Betsy Braddock. The X-Men are known for their complicated love affairs, and Psylocke is no exception, according to Wong. AIPT What The series won’t just tell Psylocke a love story. This will give her a whole love triangle:

“I’m also a big fan of love triangles and relationship drama. There’s a character I’ve never written before that I’m really excited to write, and who’s going to create a lot of problems on that front.”

It is assumed that Psylocke and John Graycrow Hellions romance. will provide one of these storylines, but the “love triangle” has many speculating as to who this second mystery love interest could be. Looking back to her comic book history to see who is most likely to cause said problems.

Greycrow will return in Psylocke’s new solo comic

Lovers Graycrow and Psylocke reunite (But there’s trouble in paradise)

Like Psylocke Greycrow has a dark history, marred by past mistakes and violence, but it was Kwannon who convinced him that he could make strides to become good.. During their time together on the Hellions team, they began a budding romance, and their relationship continues to develop to this day. X-Men run. IN X-Men #5 by Jed McKay and Ryan Stegman: Psylocke and Graycrow are revealed to have reunited in Antarctica.

While the pair have seemingly rekindled their love story, Wong teases that there will be a new rift between them as Graycrow returns to his old life of crime:

“I think he and Psylocke have a really interesting relationship dynamic that I like. It is based on a mutual understanding of what it means to be used by other people. that and the guilt that comes with it, and finding someone who can understand what you’ve been through and your trauma is really hard, especially when it’s something like this. The fact that they have this in common means that they can be understanding and patient. with each other on the front that I like.

“But there is also a crack between them – they want different things. She’s an X-Man, he’s still running a scam. She lives at the Factory, the X-Men’s base, and he lives by choice in the isolated Alaskan wilderness. He has a duty, and he has freedom. How to bridge this gap? And most importantly, is this what you want or are you okay with living these separate lives? As Jed McKay said when we talked about Psylocke recently, she can’t? stay and he won’t be able to leave.”

Angel could be a difficult love interest for Psylocke

Angel was with Betsy Braddock, but what about Kwannon herself?

Warren Worthington is divided between the aesthetics of his X-Men portrayal of Angel and his apocalyptic portrayal of Archangel.

Technically, one of Psylocke’s longest lasting relationships is with Angel, aka Warren Worthington III (with a major catch). Psylocke and Warren share a similar experience of fighting for their minds: the personalities of Betsy and Kannon merge into one form, and Warren becomes the horseman of Death of the Apocalypse, Archangel. The two had an on-and-off relationship that never resumed, but Wong’s comment about returning to Psylocke’s past could hint at a possible return.

Connected

While Psylocke and Angel are a familiar pairing, Angel’s direct contact with Kwannon (rather than Betsy) has been few and far between. Given these unexplored dynamics, Psylocke and Angel reuniting could be an interesting internal battle for Kannon.. Establishing Cannon’s feelings for Warren would be an interesting way to separate her personality from Betsy Braddock.

Psylocke had a history of flirting (and more) with Cable

Nathan Summers clones further complicate the problem

Psylocke flirts with Cable in X-Force

Cable and Psylocke were on the same team together during the C. Spurriel show. X-Force run at this time Psylocke expressed attraction to Cable and openly flirted with the time-traveling cyborg.. During their time together in X-Force, Cable placed his body in cryostasis and continually cloned himself (to prevent the injection of the super soldier serum that turned him into a time bomb). During this arc, it was revealed that Psylocke had a physical relationship with him as a clone.

This connection was not fully explored and completed, so it may be addressed in the future, perhaps in Psylocke’s solo series. To further complicate the situation, Technically, both young and old versions of Cable are involved, meaning that any version of Cable could appear.. There was no mention of a reunion between Cable and Psylocke, but Cable’s ability to clone himself and time travel would create endless drama (as time travel and cloning often do).

Will Cyclops play a romantic role in Psylocke?

Jean Gray is used to cold competition, but is Psylocke next?

Cable isn’t the only Summers to have a history with Psylocke, as a strange but also important rival is Cyclops himself. X-Men fans know Cyclops, and Jean Gray knows love triangles, having faced them with Wolverine, Emma Frost and Madelyne Pryor. But Scott’s relationship with Psylocke once caused tension within the team when, in 1991, X-Men #20, Psylocke took decisive steps towards Cyclops, earning Jean Gray’s contempt. Cyclops eventually fought back, but the situation escalated into a violent fight between Kwannon and Jean, causing Psylocke’s mind to switch completely to Betsy Braddock’s.

Even if these two don’t open up old romantic wounds, Cyclops’ leadership may create an unintentional rift between Psylocke and Greycrow, sending her on missions for the X-Men.. Alyssa Wong has made it clear that Psylocke’s solo series will explore the darker side of Kannon’s character and her relationships, both romantic and otherwise, but the mystery remains: who will be part of Psylocke’s upcoming love triangle? Looking at Psylocke’s many past relationships and storylines, the possibilities for how her highly anticipated solo series will play out are endless.

Psylocke No. 1 will be available November 13, 2024 from Marvel Comics.
