Marvel Rivals It's already been hugely successful since Season 0, but Season 1 could raise the bar even higher. The Marvel-themed hero shooter exceeded many expectations, combining great features like free heroes with its fun and chaotic gameplay. It was not without some problems, such as the discussion about whether Marvel Rivals It should have function lock, but it didn't hurt the game much, if at all.
However Marvel Rivals Season 1 will be the first look at how the developers plan to update the live service game, players already have a sense of how it will work due to the leaks. Every season plans to add several new heroes, maps and cosmetics. There is also the possibility of new events or modes appearing, but it is unlikely that they will be as frequent as the additions mentioned above. Regardless, updates like Season 1, if sustainable, will be a huge upgrade over Wonder Rivals' competition.
When is the first season of Marvel Rivals?
Entering a new year of action
Currently, there is no set date for the start of the Marvel Rivals Season 1, with previous comments pointing to early January 2025. However, looking at the time remaining in the Season 0 Battle Pass, it looks like January 10th seems to be the closest thing to a concrete answer. This would make sense for many reasons beyond the fact that it aligns with the Battle Pass end date.
To begin with, the seasons in Rivals should last around three months. Since the game was originally released on December 6th, and Season 0 is expected to be half the length of a regular season, January 10th is fine. The second reason is that leaks have emerged about a Lunar New Year event. In 2025, it's set for January 25th, and since two events are unlikely to be squeezed into one short season, it's likely that Season 1 will already be finished by then.
Leaked characters from the first season of Marvel Rivals
Numerous options to choose from
There have been a plethora of leaked characters since the game's release, some with more evidence than others. Both The Thing and the Human Torch were accidentally revealed in an officer Marvel Rivals announcement. The longest list of leaked characters includes all of the Fantastic Four, Blade, Ultron, Captain Marvel, Modok, Jean Grey, Emma Frost and Deadpool.
However, based on information from the most reliable leakers such as Rival leaksit seems the most likely additions for season 1 are Ultron, The Thing and Human Torch. While Ultron wasn't shown off in the same way as the other two, it has received the most support from leakers that it will arrive next.
These three new characters make sense, as each would play a different role, with The Thing, Human Torch and Ultron being Vanguard, Duelist and Tactician, respectively. Oddly, this means splitting up the Fantastic Four releases, but this could be to purposefully group the members into duos.
The rest of the leaked characters have had much less evidence shown, which makes it unlikely that they will arrive in the first season. Blade is the closest, as a model has been shown for him, but little else. The only evidence for Captain Marvel, Deadpool and many others are small lines of code, which do not provide any concrete date for their release. All of this suggests that The Thing, Human Torch and Ultron are the newest Marvel Rivals heroes in season 1.
New Season 1 Content Expected
Maps, modes and more
What new content to expect outside of the heroes in Marvel Rivals The first season is much more unpredictable. New maps are the most likely addition, as three locations have been talked about, and the current map set in Marvel Rivals ages quickly. The three previously mentioned locations are Arrako, Krakoa and New York. However, there is no indication of what modes they could come in.
Another new content that can be expected from Season 1 is the aforementioned Lunar New Year event. Unfortunately, there is currently no information on what this will bring, other than some concept models of the new costumes. These include new additions for Mantis, Dr Strange, Moon Knight and Squirrel Girl. If this event follows the same idea as the Winter one, one of these costume packs, or perhaps one still unknown, could be won for free.
The last thing you can expect from a new season is news Marvel Rivals teams of heroes. These have not yet been fully confirmed, but evidence will likely be given. The first is that The Thing will likely be added to the synergy between Hulk and Wolverine, allowing him also play the fierce Duelist. The Human Torch is said to have a partnership with Storm, where she can collect some of your energy to add Fire to your Ultimate Hurricaneor the Human Torch can set it on fire himself. No leaks have provided details on possible Ultron teams.
Overall, Season 1 is shaping up to be a huge update for the hero shooter. The studio will likely aim to maintain the impressive player retention it has achieved. New heroes are more likely to bring more success, which is why it looks like many will be added. Three seems the most likely possibility, and any more number will be a great benefit. However, until more is known, this is what to expect from season 1 of Marvel Rivals.
