Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble – Confirmation, cast and everything we know

Jagged Edge Productions' Twisted Childhood Universe is set to converge in 2025 with the release of an epic horror crossover known as Poohniverse: monster assembly. Led by the independent horror film producer's new mascot, Winnie the Pooh, Mounted monsters aims to bring together all the blood-soaked villains from films like Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and Bambi: the reckoning in a major crossover event. Although the franchise is only a few years old, the “Poohniverse” is already one of the most ambitious ideas in recent horror history, emulating the success of tentpoles like the MCU.

The vision for the Twisted Childhood Universe launched in 2023 with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, which reimagined AA Milne's beloved childhood character as a bloodthirsty killer. The concept of Jagged Edge's entire production model is quite simple, and the Twisted Childhood Universe simply takes classic children's intellectual properties from the public domain and turns them into horror films. The mentioned Blood and Honey was a surprise box office hit, and the independent company quickly greenlit a number of similar projects. Poohniverse: monster assembly will arrive just two years after the franchise's debut and could be the end of the entire Twisted Childhood Universe.

Many months after the Twisted Monster Mash announcement, the latest news arrives in the form of an update on Poohniverse: monster assembly from the film producer. Scott Jeffrey oversees the current wing of the Twisted Childhood Universe and has spoken candidly about what to expect from the epic crossover film. In addition to explaining that the film would have a bigger budget than any of the independent films, he also explained that there are "Easter Eggs" suggesting the crossover in the individual films.

Jeffrey said:

Similar to The Avengers, we will follow Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Owl, Piglet, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, Mad Hatter, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell joining forces to wreak havoc. We are working with a bigger budget on this case and are excited about what the future holds. When watching independent films, you'll see Easter eggs hinting at crossover. Some of the villains won't agree either, which will allow for some carnage within the group in some epic monster-on-monster sequences.

Nothing about Jeffrey's statement above is particularly new, but the producer dropped some major bombshells. Perhaps the biggest surprise, Jeffrey announced that "You will get Mary Poppins...she's going to be a nightmare." While details about the beloved nanny's appearance are being kept secret, it's unclear how she fits into the company's public domain model. Mary Poppins' first appearance in the 1926 tale Mary Poppins and the Matchman is in fact in the public domain, but her most iconic look is still copyrighted. This means that the Poohniverse version of the character won't look very familiar.

Read Jeffrey's full comments here:

You will get Mary Poppins. I just decided she's going to be in the mix. So she's going to be a nightmare in there. Also, don't expect anyone to survive. I love it Avengers [Infinity War] where everyone dies in the end, like Spider-Man and everything. Normally, I don't like these movies. And I was dragged to the cinema, and when everyone died, I thought: “Oh, I loved it now, I want to watch the next one”. But then, when they all resurrected, I thought, [motions dismissively]. But in ours, I really want you to, I hope, like these characters. Like when you have your introductory movies like Pinocchio, you love the main characters, and the same goes with Peter Pan. But I'm going to destroy them in the universe, and no one... like, it's going to be like you can count them on one hand. that will survive.
