Thanks to some well-placed cards in Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocketa player managed to assemble the game’s version of the legendary Exodia card from Yu-Gi-Oh. In Yu-Gi-Oh, The Exodia card is a mystical card that requires five pieces to be assembled, with each card representing a part of Exodia’s body: one card for the head, two for the arms and two for the legs. In the series and card game, the legendary card is known as “The Forbidden One,” and being able to obtain the full set results in an automatic victory.
Editor Karlatog managed to assemble the Pokémon TCG version of the card, for collecting all of Snorlax’s pieces during a battle. The feat was achieved by playing a certain card as an active Pokémon and placing three others on the bench, with the rare Snorlax at the center of the formation. Reddit user tttyttt678 points out that this combination should be an instant win, as Yu-Gi-Oh Exodia Collection: “I would have admitted that the second the combo was played it should have been an Insta win!“
Pokémon TCG Pocket Snorlax card is part of a connected set
Three other cards complete the picture
Some players have noticed that the Snorlax on the full-art holographic card looks extend beyond the limits of your own card. The Pokémon’s big foot appears on the Venonat card, where a curious Venonat examines it. A very alarmed Oddish seemed surprised to see the top half of Snorlax’s head. And finally, Bellsprout is shown running away from Snorlax’s arm on Bellsprout’s card.
The full Snorlax holographic card illustration is centered on the Snorlax, of course, who is sleeping peacefully on a dock, a huge paw squishing his own cheek adorably. Looking a little closer, it is possible see all three other Pokémon represented on Snorlax’s main card. Venonat is at the Snorlax’s feet, Oddish is hiding under the HP meter in the top right corner, and the unfortunate Bellsprout didn’t run away fast enough and was caught in the Snorlax’s arm.
We want even more connected art cards in the Pokémon TCG
It’s always fun to discover cards that make a matching pair
The Snorlax set is not the first time Pokémon TCG combined cards in pairs or even sets. Most often, these groupings of cards take the form of cards of a similar style, such as the beautiful artwork by artist Yoriyuki Ikegami from Scarlet and Violet 151 setwhich shows Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur seemingly exploring the same peaceful patch of forest.
Sometimes, however, two or three cards can be placed together to complete an illustration. This is the case with the Latias and Latios from the Surging Sparks set, which form a continuous work of art when placed next to each other. The art on Pokémon cards is so beautiful and it’s wonderful that Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket brought much of the beauty and whimsy of the traditional card game to the digital world. I’d love to see even more of these ongoing and related art cards in the future, as little surprises like this make the game even more appealing to collectors.
