Pokémon TCG Pocket Launches New Year Events, With Epic Blastoise Promo Card and Free Packs Available

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has launched a series of new events to celebrate the New Year, with new promotional cards and lots of new packs to win. The popular new mobile game has kept players busy over the past few weeks with the release of the new Mythical Island expansion and a handful of new events focused on battling human players and collecting cards. Most of these events offer special promotional cards, with alternative art and other perks available like rewards and quest prizes.

To celebrate the New Year, Pokémon TCG Pocket has launched a new event detailed in Serebii.netoffering a new promotional card with full Pikachu art and various Mythical Island packages. Unlike the holiday event, which simply required players to log in to collect rewards, players would need to complete tasks such as participating in battles to collect all the prizes. A new Blastoise Drop event was also launched this week, with five new promotional cards including a new full-art card of Blastoise, also detailed in Serebi. The New Year event runs until January 7th, while the Blastoise Drop event runs until January 15th.

Promotional cards, hourglass packs and free packs all available as rewards

While other events generally focus on one aspect of the game the New Year event has missions that focus on several different aspects of the game. The Blastoise Drop event is the latest drop event, with five new promo cards in play. The highlight of the event is a new full-art Blastoise promotional card, showing Blastoise sitting in a workshop surrounded by various tools and machines. Other promotional cards include Snivy, Volcarona, Eevee and Cinccino. To collect the promotional cards, players need to participate in solo battles against a number of different Blastoise-themed decks. Each deck has separate missions to complete, with a total of 32 Wonder Hourglasses available as rewards.

Eliminating two events simultaneously is a great way to start 2025 in Pokémon TCG Pocket. The New Year event is one of the most robust events ever, with many amazing prizes available for players. With negotiations on the horizon and a further full expansion expected by the end of January, it appears that Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket will have a great 2025.
