Pokémon TCG Pocket launches first mass outbreak event with free Wonder Picks and more

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has launched a new type of event, offering players the chance to pick up Fire-type cards through Wonder Picks. During your first month, Pokémon TCG Pocket tried several different events to keep fans logged in when they weren’t opening packs. These events range from battle events that test players’ skills against human and computer opponents to special Wonder Pick events that offer a chance to win promotional cards and more.

Today, Pokémon TCG Pocket launched a new mass outbreak event focused on Fire-type Pokémon. Randomly, Special Wonder Picks will appear with a selection of Fire-type cards, including a former Arcanine and a Moltres. Additionally, players will occasionally receive a free Wonder Pick selection, offering common and uncommon Fire-type cards. Players can also complete various missions to earn Wonder Hourglasses and Shop Tickets. Players can also gain a special talent for Arcanine ex, giving them a yellow “Circles Flair” if they spend glitter dust and trade cards. The event takes place from November 22nd to 28th.

How the Pokémon TCG Pocket Mass Outbreak event works

Players will occasionally receive Chansey Wonder Picks and Bonus Picks

To participate in the event, players must check the Wonder Pick menu to see if a Chansey Wonder Pick or Bonus Pick is active. While the Bonus Pick does not cost players any Wonder Stamina, the Chansey Wonder Pick will cost players a standard amount of stamina. Because the Wonder Pick card set includes an Arcanine ex, players may have to spend up to three Wonder Stamina on a pick. Some players on Reddit aren’t too happy about it, with one player describing the event as “feeling useless” because of the lack of promotional or rare cards.

Keep in mind that collecting Fire-type cards can also come from opening booster packs, so players should be able to complete all of these quests over the next week with a little luck.

Our opinion: Too expensive for a weak Wonder Pick selection

It seems like a waste of wonderful, valuable energy

While I like the concept of this Mass Outbreak event, there is little incentive for daily players to participate if they already have the Arcanine ex card. Considering that Wonder Picks with ex-Pokémon cards cost the same as a Wonder Pick with alternate art cards, it makes more sense for players to use Wonder Picks to search for cards they don’t have.

Chasing extra former Arcanine cards, even with the encouragement of a special talent, seems like a waste of valuable energy. If the Mass Outbreak event featured promo cards or alternate art cards, this event might be worth more effort. However, as it stands, this appears to be one of the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocketthe worst events so far.
