Pokémon TCG Owner's Pokémon Explained
Pokémon TCG's New Card Type Brings Back Early Game Mechanics
Owner Pokémon Cards were one of the first mechanics in Pokemon Trading Card Gamehaving first appeared in the Gym Heroes and Gym Challenge takes place during the Gen 1 era of the game. Owner's Pokémon do not have unique mechanics, but often have synergies with their owner's Trainer cards and other Pokémon of the same owner. For example, N's Zoroark ex card revealed this year at Pokémon World Championship states that Zoroark can choose an attack from another of N's Benched Pokémon and use it as his own.
These new Pokémon cards should be popular for a few reasons. The first is that they offer obvious synergies for deck building and will likely change the metagame in a similar way to how Battle Styles and Old/Future Pokémon did during those respective eras. The other is that the alternate art cards will almost certainly feature fan-favorite trainers, which will likely translate into some important chase cards for players.
Our Take: Pokémon TCG Set to Evolve From Tera-Type Pokémon
Could this be the end of the controversial Pokémon TCG feature?
An interesting wrinkle in this Journey Together The thing is, none of the ex-Owner Pokémon cards revealed so far are ex-Tera Pokémon cards. Former Tera Pokémon cards dominated the Scarlet and Violet era of Pokémon TCG in the last two years.
As many of the trainers featured have nothing to do with Terastalization (a mechanic that only appeared in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet), this could mean that the Pokémon TCG is finally ready to move forward with this mechanic. This would make Prismatic Evolutions the set seems more like the culmination of the current Scarlet and Violet era than previously believed.
