Pokémon children’s book series gets three new entries

Pokémon is adding three new books to its popular children’s book series from Pokémon Primers, this time focusing on Dark, Ice and Normal types. THE Pokémon The company published the first Primer in 2021, and the series has since grown to 26 books, with more on the way. Each title explores a different aspect of Pokémon world, from letters and shapes to different types of Pokémon.

Three new primers join the series of books on the Pokémon Center website, focusing on Dark types, Ice types, and Normal types. All three books star Pikachu as he embarks on a journey to explore, overcome obstacles (suitable for children) and make new friends. The books help children learn to read English and pronounce different Pokémon names, and feature interactive elements such as flaps that can be lifted to reveal cute surprises. And although they are “children’s” books, all three new titles are suitable for children aged 3 to 99, so adults can enjoy them too.

What Each New Pokémon Primer Book Has to Offer

Three charming stories, written by different authors

Although all three primers are illustrated by the Pokémon enterprise, each follows a unique story starring Pikachu, written by a different author. The Dark Types book, written by longtime series contributor Simcha Whitehill, sends Pikachu on a quest to invite Dark-type Pokémon on a stargazing cruise.

The book Ice Types was written by Josh Bates and takes place during a winter festival that needs help decorating. Finally, the book Normal Types by Sonia Sander shows Pikachu trying to find all the belongings missing from a Trainer’s backpack.

All three Primers include 28 delightfully illustrated pages and lots of Pokémon to meet and befriend. Each name has a pronunciation guide to help “trainers in training” learn the correct way to say their name. Each book costs US$14.99 and is now available on Pokémon Center website.

More Pokémon Primers are planned for 2025

The three new books are not the only titles in the Primer series of children’s books. Three more Primers are planned for release in 2025, featuring three more Pokémon types. According to the Simon & Schuster website, the Bug, Dragon and Ground Type Primers will go on sale on May 27, 2025.

Beyond what is scheduled for 2025 Pokémon Primaries, the Pokémon The company also plans to launch a box set with the three new books, via Simon & Schuster. The Ice, Dark, and Normal Type box set will be available for purchase on February 4, 2025, for $39.99.
