Warning: contains spoilers Poison Ivy #27!!Poison Ivy has long been one of Gotham’s most capable villains, but her recent intense battle with former mentor Jason Woodrue revealed a new level of her power. When Pamela decided to destroy the Green Man for good, she delved deeper into the Green than ever before. She didn’t simply use it against her opponent, she created armor from “Living Green” itself.
In Poison Ivy #27by G. Willow Wilson, Marcio Takara, Arif Prianto, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, Poison Ivy corners a member of the Order of the Green Knight ecoterrorism group and demands to know why they falsely claim her as their leader. She quickly discovers that the group knows a lot about her – including her recent battle with the Green Man – as the supporter stammers that it was she who wore the “armor made of Living Green”.
Ivy’s connection to the Green defines her. This explains his deep bond with the planet and his powers, but this connection has clearly reached such a peak that Green himself protects Pamela Isley.
Poison Ivy forged her armor from ‘The Living Green’
Losing her connection to green allowed her to reforge a stronger connection
THE Poison Ivy the solo series began with Pam still recovering from her destroyed connection to the Green. She had no real access to her ancient powers and was instead ready to exterminate humanity with Lamia spores. Instead, her journey led her to a deeper understanding of herself and humanity, and ultimately resulted in the restoration of her ties to the force. She is now so deeply embedded in him that she has turned him into physical armor, and the Green gave life to Poison Ivy when she later succumbs to wounds from the battle with Woodrue.
Premiering in Poison Ivy #22The “Living Green” armor was already one of Pam’s most stunning looks. This went beyond her usual style of twisting, trailing vines and instead made her look like a God forged by the Green. Now, thanks to the eco-terrorist’s breathless admiration, this is confirmed. Pamela Isley wasn’t just embracing a new aesthetic with her intimidating helmet and sheer organic armor. Instead, she transformed her body into a vessel for the Green and confronted Jason Woodrue completely enveloped in her protection. She not only reformed her connection to the Green, but also became a part of it.
Poison Ivy protects the green and responds in kind
Poison Ivy never intended to become a villain. Their goal was never to terrorize or harm. Instead, from the moment she underwent Woodrue’s experiment, she has sought to protect and has proven that she will fight until her last breath for the planet. Pam is not an avatar of Green in the same way that characters like Swamp Thing are, but that doesn’t seem to diminish her affiliation with him. As it continues to change and grow, the connection does the same. Poison Ivy’s most impressive armor is proof that she is a living goddess of the Green and is reaching new heights of power.
Poison Ivy #27 is now available from DC Comics.
