PlayStation fans will soon be able to play one of the most beloved PC games of all time

PlayStation 5 Users who want to enjoy a timeless real-time strategy game will be pleased to know that An all-time classic could be coming to the console. When it comes to the RTS genre, PC has historically been the preferred format as it allows for more robust control schemes and UI elements that work better with a mouse and keyboard. Fortunately for console gamers, developers have come up with some useful design tricks to make RTS games possible with a controller, opening up Xbox and PlayStation to a whole new world of gaming.

Posting on Reddit, user Fidler_2K shared a leaked image of PlayStation Network users apparently logging in Age of Empire 2: Definitive Edition.

As far as the official launch goes, the PlayStation logo does not appear on the Teams page, suggesting that developers World’s Edge and Forgotten Empires are working on a PlayStation version. While the leak appears accurate and corroborates recent rumors, it’s still worth taking it with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made.

Age Of Empires 2 on PlayStation would be great

Although some Xbox gamers may not be satisfied

THE Age of Empire the brand has long been associated with Microsoft due to its roots as a PC series, but there’s no reason it can’t flourish on PlayStation. With the benefit of cross-play, it could introduce a whole new audience to the multiplayer scene and help introduce a group of players eager to learn more about the popular real-time strategy series. In fact, the original Age of Empires II was ported to the PlayStation 2 in 2001, but this version of the game was clearly more difficult to control, resulting in much forgetfulness.

The PlayStation community may be excited about Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition but the port would be another exclusive Xbox console to make the multiplatform transition. Xbox’s decision to bring some of its most popular games to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch has proven to be a controversial move so many fans see this as the brand becoming diluted. If Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is the next step in Microsoft’s plan, the Xbox community could be even more frustrated.

Everyone should try Age Of Empires 2

It’s a classic for a reason

Age of Empires 2 on the main screen

While I missed the heyday of Age of Empires 2 (I played a lot more Age of Empires 3), I checked the Definitive Edition: It’s a remarkable remaster for a game that has aged very well. I’m not a big fan of RTS games with a controller, but I’ll be glad PlayStation fans have a chance to understand the hype for themselves. There’s a reason Age of Empires II It is still considered one of the best strategy games ever made.
