Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is an exciting prospect for many, even if Johnny Depp doesn’t return as Jack Sparrow, and there is a Depp replacement ready for a prequel film that could work. In a way, no one could ever replace Jack Sparrow in any way. Pirates of the Caribbean 6 film, as he made the franchise what it is and his arrogance is never unwelcome. However, replacing Depp with a key Pirates of the Caribbean character would serve the dual purpose of reviving the underused character as well as filling a role that Depp may not be able to take on.
Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is in development and producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed he spoke with Johnny Depp about reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. This news comes despite the troubled history between Depp and the franchise. Although Depp’s return has not yet been confirmed, the possibility of a film with a new direction and a different protagonist remains. New ideas, with or without Depp, could end up creating one of the best Pirates of the Caribbean films already made, and an actress could be the ideal star to put these ideas into practice.
Angelica was actually a great character from Pirates of the Caribbean
Angelica would be a strong focus for POTC
Angélica by Penélope Cruz was a great addition to Pirates of the Caribbean and Cruz would make a wonderful lead in the next Pirates of the Caribbean 6. Cruz is a consummate star who rivals Johnny Depp and could steal the spotlight just as easily as he could. She has charisma and sex appeal like Depp and all the depth and experience to support her complicated character. Angélica was capable as a fighter in Pirates of the Caribbeanproving his propensity to lead the action elements of Pirates of the Caribbean 6.
Not only was Angelica charismatic and a fighter to stand up to Sparrow’s heroism, but she also had a fierce intellect. Part of Jack Sparrow’s appeal was his cutting wit and sarcastic humor. Cruz carried Angélica’s intelligence well, which was important because the character was well written and highly perceptive. Angelica could match Jack Sparrow mentallyand that makes her perfect to lead the new film or star alongside Depp if he returns. Furthermore, Angélica’s leadership role in Pirates of the Caribbean ensures that she is perfectly positioned to take control of a new narrative.
Pirates of the Caribbean wasted Angelica in the Jack and Blackbeard arcs
Penélope Cruz’s brilliant Angélica was not fully explored
Angélica was wasted as a character in The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. She was a participant in the Jack Sparrow romance subplot and also a member of the Blackbeard rescue plot. With Sparrow as his former flame and on-again, off-again lover and Blackbeard as his father, Angelica was positioned as a central member of the story’s intrigue. However, she was also in the shadow of the male characters, who occupied a prominent place in the previous films. Angelica’s romance with Jack Sparrow could also be updated for Jack’s sake, as his inability to develop his relationship with Angelica quickly became tiresome.
Angélica’s absorption into Blackbeard’s plot didn’t seem to do her character justice. Angelica continually tried to save her father, even though he was prepared to sacrifice his life without much trouble. Someone as intelligent as Angélica should have realized Blackbeard’s less than honorable intentionseven though he was her father. Or, perhaps, especially because he was her father. This was a flaw in the writing of Angélica’s character, as she was built to be stronger and smarter than that. Exploring the psychology of Angelica’s obsession with her father could have helped justify her behavior.
There was a problem with Angelica’s Pirates of the Caribbean future (which could be changed by POTC 6)
POTC 6 can solve a problem for Angelica
All over Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger TidesThe strength of Angélica’s script varied, but Pirates of the Caribbean 6 could fix this. When the script was at its strongest, Angélica seemed independent and on the verge of freeing herself from her father’s influence. But in the final moments of On strange tidesit was completely clear that Angélica’s arc was always about saving her father. As such, his potential was ultimately sacrificed for the benefit of Ian McShane’s Blackbeard. It was a shame, brilliant as McShane was.

It would make a lot of sense for the new Pirates of the Caribbean film to bring Angélica back. Angélica’s last appearance in the franchise involved her picking up a voodoo doll and smiling knowingly, teasing an exciting future. This may have hinted at a continuation of Angelica’s romance with Jack Sparrow, as the Voodoo Doll was related to him. It was strange not to bring Angélica back for the next filmconsidering this ending. Pirates of the Caribbean 6 shouldn’t ignore Penélope Cruz’s unfinished business with the franchise.
In bringing Cruz back, Pirates of the Caribbean it could resurrect an excellent character, resolve loose ends and breathe new life into the franchise. Angélica’s return is the franchise’s chance to do justice to her character and create some kind of satisfying conclusion to her romance with Jack Sparrow, once and for all. A proper rupture or a redemptive and conclusive understanding between the two is needed. Cruz should return to Depp’s side if he returns Pirates of the Caribbean for your next exit. But if he doesn’t, Cruz is the perfect leader to Pirates of the Caribbean 6.
