Pidgeot Ex Deck Guide (best strategies and cards)

Players from Pokémon TCG Pocket are finding that Pidgeot ex is a great Normal-type pocket monster to compete against other big meta decks. This is because the ex Pidgeot can cause a lot of damagebut knowing which cards to put in is another story. It all depends on the path you want to take, as there are many different ways to build a great deck around this card.

Pidgeot ex is one of the many surprises in the Mythical Island expansion in Pokémon TCG Pocket. There were a lot of potential stars in the new expansion, but most people expected Golem to be the new meta. Pidgeot hasn't made the biggest wave yet and the decks are still evolving, but there are some theories about which deck will ultimately stand the test of time. While that remains to be seen, here is one of the best decks you can make right now.

Pidgeot Ex deck card list

Best cards, substitutions and alternative options

As the meta is still evolving, the final version of this deck remains to be seen. You can pair it with a different element type to take advantage of some of those synergies, or you can stay Normal-type entirely to take advantage of some of Mythic Isle's best new cards.

While you should definitely try this one out, there are several things you can keep in mind. The Normal deck is actually one of the rental decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket you can try, with Tauros and Eevee. There is a plate you can swap to get pretty good, consistent results, which you can see in the box below.

Druddigon is one of the cards that has become a staple in many decks as a way to save time until players manage to draw the card they want with all the energy needed. However, this will only buy time as, especially with this deck, you can't get the necessary energy in it.

You could easily continue with the Normal-type deck, returning to Blue for Druddigon. However, here are some other suggestions:

  • Electric-type cards like Galvantula and Joltik
  • Vaporeon will pair with Eevee
  • Chatot
  • My ex

All of this offers another potential big hit to catch up with your ex Pidgeot, so you will have to experiment to see what works best for you. However, all of these decks will require spending a lot of time or money to obtain the necessary cards. There are some cheaper alternatives, or you can replace a similar Genetic Apex card you already have.

Best strategy to win with a Pidgeot Ex deck

Strengths, weaknesses and things to plan

Alternate art of Pidgeot in Pokémon TCG Pocket

Most of these decks will rely on buying time and manipulating the board. You will be stalling with Druddigon by switching the Active Pokémon if necessary for Leaf using Tauros to cleanse any ex-Pokémon your opponent did so quickly and using the other Trainer cards to keep his side of the board in good shape.

As long as you have More than enough base power with Pidgeot exyou have to take them out and make your opponent's bench full to maximize their potential. You'll want to be careful with things like Articuno ex for this reason, but you can use Pokémon Flute to get more Pokémon on the bench when necessary.

You will need the Leaf to get Druddigon out of the Active Spot.

The Pikachu ex Mythical Island deck is a problem for this deck as it will hit Pidgeot pretty hard. Any electric type deck will be difficult as it will have maximum damage against you. Fighting types can also have the same problem because of Tauros and Eevee.

Its other weakness is that it will take some time to configure both obtaining the evolutions and obtaining enough energy on the card. Right now, there's no way to put more energy into the card like there is with some of the other big decks. Opponents can also keep their benches very cleannot allowing you to do as much damage. You may want to keep the former Pidgeot back to try and draw out your opponent.

The good news is that this deck can counter some of the big meta decks, but may be less consistent than some of the others. You'll have to do your own experiments to see if it works well for you, but that's always how it goes. Pokémon TCG Pocket when you are building a new deck.
