The revival of Phineas and Ferb was recently teased at New York Comic Con with the reveal of a surprisingly detailed poster that calls back to one of the show’s classic episodes. Phineas and Ferb Ran for four seasons over eight years on Disney Channel, becoming a popular series with immensely clever metatextual humor. The show has been on hiatus for nearly a decade, broken by the release of a spinoff movie in 2020. Phineas and Ferb Season 5 is expected in 2025, with the broad Phineas and Ferb Timeline continues as before.
Fans are in for another summer of Phineas (Vincent Martella) and Ferb (David Errigo Jr.) creating strange new inventions, much to the chagrin of their sister Candace (Ashley Tisdale), while their pet platypus Perry (Bradley Baker) battles the evil Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire). The set-up for the revival shows that the Phineas and Ferb Creators understand the demand for more of the same thing when there is a story that can continue as long as it wants. Responding to those same sentiments, the recently revealed poster nods to an episode that evokes the show’s signature tone and themes.
“Dude, We’re Getting the Band Back Together” is the quintessential Phineas and Ferb episode
The new Phineas and Ferb poster references the time when the kids met their parents’ favorite band
A handful of episodes from the first season set the stage for the series and are still fondly remembered as classics – The Rollercoaster, The Backyard Beach, The Time Travel Adventure, etc. Phineas and Ferb Revival advertised itself by referring to one season 1 episode that still stands out. In “Dude, We’re Getting the Band Back Together,” (Season 1, Episode 14 on Disney+), Phineas, Ferb and Candace set out to recruit the disbanded members of their parents’ favorite music group And host a concert in their backyard for their anniversary.
The finale is heartwarming, as well as one of the first times Candace is shown bonding with her brothers in the series. Years later, the US Phineas and Ferb Revival recognized the moment of an epic musical reunion and family ties with the Revival poster showing Phineas, Ferb and their core group of friends performing in their own rock concert. It’s a fitting image when music is something the boys often participate in, while the tagline “We’re getting the band back together” is a perfect play on both this quintessential episode and the pending cast reunion.
The Phineas and Ferb revival poster has a lot of Easter eggs
Many favorite Phineas and Ferb characters make their way onto this poster
However, the artists did not stop there – It is an impressive number of Phineas and Ferb Easter eggs included in the poster to make the ultimate mashup of all the biggest moments of the series And a major nostalgic response. Most obviously, the framing and positioning are well planned with Candace intently looking down on the boys and their friends from backstage, while Perry and Doofenshmirtz are up on the balcony of the audience, engaged in a fight with each other once again. Currently, the audience is a large amalgamation of the extended cast of the series.
