Notice! This post contains SPOILERS for The Penguin
Digital artist shows what The PenguinThe main cast would be as if Oz Cobb, Sofia Falcone and Victor Aguilar starred in a Pixar/DC film. The Penguin is an especially dark DC series, as not only does it feature some of the most brutal deaths in a DC project yet, but its realistic tone also means that no character can come back from the dead or punch themselves out of sticky situations. Just like in real life, innocent people like Rhenzy Feliz’s Victor Aguilar meet an undeserved tragic fate, while ruthless criminals like Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb go unharmed, as seen in The Penguin the ending of the finale, which saw Oz kill Victor with his bear hands.
Artist @gabriel.soareszz redesign The Penguinis released in the style of Pixar’s 3D animated films. The image shows Oz Cobb holding a gun while smoking a cigar, Sofia Falcone smoking a cigarette and Victor Aguilar standing next to Oz with his hands in his pockets. What Pixar-Inspired Penguin Fan Art Means
DC’s Gotham characters work in any medium
The PenguinThe gritty tone of couldn’t be more different from Pixar’s family films, but Oz Cobb, Sofia Falcone, and Victor Aguilar look like they would fit in very well in a 3D animated film or show. This may be due to the fact that The Penguin is based on DC characters, which have been translated into all mediums and formats over several decades. For example, Meredith Burgess’ Penguin is one of the main villains of the 1960s. Batman series and film, Danny DeVito’s Penguin fully embodies Tim Burton’s dark style in Batman Returnsand Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb is an unmistakably realistic character in Matt Reeves’ Batman universe.
Characters based on Gotham may be the most dynamic characters in DC Comics. Batman’s allies and enemies can be as fantastical and light-hearted or as grounded and dark as each DC project prefers. In addition to the Penguin, the Riddler is also a perfect example: Jim Carrey’s Edward Nigma and Paul Dano’s Edward Nashton are on opposite sides of the tonal spectrum in Batman Forever and Batman. If DC wanted to make a Pixar-like 3D animated film starring Batman characters, the results could be as popular as a TV-MA rated series like The Penguin.
Our Take on Pixar-Inspired Penguin Fan Art
DC’s Batman Lore Will Be Covered by Two Simultaneous Franchises Soon
While Batman and The Penguin have cemented the dark parts of Batman lore as a goldmine for live-action adaptations, the most fantastical and joyful parts of the Dark Knight will likely be represented by the DCU. Because the DCU’s Batman will exist in the same continuity as characters like Krypto the Superdog and Weasel, projects like Andy Muschietti’s next film The brave and the bold the film could feature Gotham characters like Clayface, Killer Croc and even Bat-Mite. What’s more, both sides of DC’s Batman lore will likely be explored simultaneously, like Matt Reeves. Batman the franchise and the DCU’s Batman will overlap for a few years.
