What Pascal’s BTS Post Means for Gladiator 2
Ridley Scott went all-in on practical sets
A common complaint made about many films today is the lack of practical sets and effects. Often green screen will be used in place of traveling to a real location because it is easier and cheaper, but the end result never looks as convincing. Gladiator 2 being filmed in real locations with huge sets means that Hopefully Scott’s sequel will avoid any complaints that it feels cheap, underwhelming, or inauthentic.
While Pascal’s post provides a limited look at the practical sets used for the sequel, Gladiator 2 Set photos released several months ago show that Scott essentially built an entire Roman city in Malta, including his own version of the Colosseum. Gladiator 2 The reviews released so far are generally positive, and the strong emphasis on practicality may be part of the reason. It’s important to note, however, that VFX and CGI will still play an important role in the film, especially in certain wide scenes and sequences involving animals like the rhino and baboons seen in the trailer.
Our opinion on Pascal’s role in Gladiator 2
Pascal is ready to ascend to greater heights as a movie star
Pascal has become one of the most recognized and in-demand actors working in Hollywood today after playing leading roles in The last of us and The Mandalorian. He typically plays more heroic characters – and is set to play his biggest hero yet. The Fantastic Four: Getting Started – but It will be interesting to see him taking on an antagonistic role. Behind-the-scenes photos, however, suggest that many of the cast members got along very well off-camera.
A key dynamic in the original Gladiator it was the rivalry between Maximus (Russell Crowe) and Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix). It will obviously be a huge challenge for Mescal and Pascal to capture this same magic, but the early signs promise that Gladiator 2 will deliver.
