The return of Pedro Pascal in the titular role of Din Djarin in The Mandalorian and Grogu was confirmed, easing viewers’ long-standing concerns about the beloved actor. Pascal, who has played Din Djarin ever since Star Wars The Mandalorian began, became a famously busy actor following his skyrocket to fame following The Mandalorian and HBO The last of usin which he plays Joel Miller. Given his busy filming schedule The Fantastic Four: Getting Started in the role of Reed Richards, some feared he would not return to his Star Wars paper.
However, this will not be the case, since Lucasfilm confirmed at D23 Brasil that Pedro Pascal will indeed return to play Din Djarin once again in The Mandalorian and Grogu. The announcement was made alongside the official casting of Sigourney Weaver, who is playing a currently unknown role in Star Wars next film. While it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that Pascal continues to play this iconic role, it’s certainly a relief for those who were unsure about scheduling conflicts and more that seemed to get in his way.
What Pedro Pascal’s return means for Star Wars
He is forever committed to this role
Pascal remaining in the role of Din Djarin in The Mandalorian and Grogu proves that he’s ready to keep playing this Star Wars character for as long as he can. This is something he has already stated during the press for The Mandalorian Season 3 in 2023, but it’s certainly a nice feeling to see realized through action. Although the exact details of Pascal’s involvement are currently unknown, considering the fact that both The Fantastic Four and The Mandalorian and Grogu are in production simultaneously, it’s clear he’ll continue portraying this beloved character.
Our Take: Pascal’s return as Din Djarin shouldn’t come as a surprise
It’s time to stop this cyclical pattern of questioning
Hilariously, this appears to be a cyclical pattern with each new installment added to the The Mandalorian franchise, to the extent that the question of Pascal’s return as Din Djarin is always raised – urging Lucasfilm to present official confirmation, which is then met with public enthusiasm. This has been happening since The Mandalorian release of the 2nd season and unfortunately it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop anytime soon, despite Pascal’s best efforts to prove he’s still involved. The actor has even repeatedly posted stories about this film on social media, most recently about the casting of Sigourney Weaver.
This should be the last time Pascal’s return as Din Djarin comes as a surprise to viewers, as this is the third time it has been confirmed. Even though Pascal can only contribute his voice, he always returns as Din Djarinas happened with most The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 3. It’s hard to imagine that the actor wouldn’t want to return to his own character’s film, especially since it’s a Star Wars film. We hope Pascal has a more important role The Mandalorian and Grogualthough that remains to be seen.
The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22, 2026.
