Paris Has Fallen took the right approach by expanding the franchise without Gerald Butler

Warning: Major Paris spoilers have fallen below!Paris fell is a spin-off of It fell franchise, and the show made a smart choice in differentiating itself from the Gerard Butler saga. In 2013 Fallen White House against Olympus has fallen box office battle, the latter emerged victorious; Of course, it also had the advantage of being released months before its rival. Butler's Secret Service agent, Mike Banning, returned to the entire It fell film trilogy, but Paris fell takes the series in a very different direction as it moves to television.

The spinoff still has all the action and one-liners, but is also able to dedicate more time to the development of the protagonists. Paris fell seems more 24 than the film series that spawned itwith its cast constantly racing against the clock while engaging in shootouts and periodic car chases. Even avoid It fell basic landmark destruction movie, while Paris fell the characters are much more vulnerable than Butler's human tank, Banning.

Paris Has Fallen was smart not to have references to the film trilogy

The Has Fallen branch doesn't have any easter eggs for fans to catch

an image of Aaron Eckhart placed over the Angel Has Fallen poster, which shows Gerard Butler looking grim

Paris fell may be an official spin-off of the films, but surprisingly, it doesn't include any references to them. It does not mention important characters such as Presidents Asher (Aaron Eckhart) or Trumbull (Morgan Freeman), or the wave of terrorist attacks that hit the British capital in London fell. There's so little connective tissue that could be made for the TV series to be set in its own world separate from Butler's films. This is an unusual approach, but Paris fell I was right to do that..

The story it's telling has little to do with the films, so any reference would have felt like a crowbar because of that. THE It fell the films tell very American stories, but as the spinoff title indicates, things have gotten a lot more European. The action is more scaled back and grounded, and the stakes aren't as apocalyptic. This helps Paris fell establish your own identity within the property – but without feeling like a cheaper version of its big-screen predecessors.

…the spinoff is better to resist the temptation to include extraneous callbacks to the It fell films.

It's hard to think of a time when the show could have organically referenced the films, other than a surprise phone call with Freeman's president, Trumbull. Even that would have felt like a distraction from fan service, and the spinoff is better off resisting the temptation to include awkward callbacks.

Gerard Butler Paris Rumors Dropped Cameo Didn't Happen

Butler is still attached to the fourth film, Night Has Fallen

THE It fell The films all arrived within three years of each other, but Butler hasn't returned to the series since 2019. Butler is still linked to Paris fell as producerbut although there were reports that he might appear as Banning, this did not happen. Again, there are no real references to the films, and it would be difficult to find a way for him to appear anyway.

Although it is established that Banning has some ties to MI6 during the events of London felland the show's co-protagonist is MI6 agent Zara (Ritu Arya), it would still make little sense for them to contact Banning Perhaps there was a plan for Banning's appearance that fell through due to Butler's busy schedule.or perhaps the producers wanted to leave all options open for a potential fourth film. The next planned film is dubbed Night fellalthough little has been said about the sequel in many years.

Paris Has Fallen, second season may still be linked to the cinema

The next chapter in the Has Fallen series could unite the films and show

Right or wrong, Paris fell decided to stand without relying on Butler's films. Although a second season was not greenlit, the ending suggests that the villain DCX Capital will move to Africa next to cause more chaos. This could establish the show as more of a global event, though another season could still tie into the films. Butler is unlikely to play a major role, but the second season may still have cameos from names like Eckhart as former president Asher or even reveal that DCX participated in the attacks shown in the films.

While the films and the show share DNA, it's also possible that newcomers will enjoy Paris Has Fallen as its own beast.

There are ways to crossover the two entities that don't have to be cringe-worthy, but for now, it looks like the spin-off is on its own trajectory. Paris fell proved to be a pulpy and entertaining action thriller in its own rightand future seasons could easily continue in the same vein. With the theatrical side of the property seemingly stagnant, the transition to television was agreed upon. While the films and the show share DNA, it's also possible for newcomers to enjoy Paris fell like your own beast.
