The Paddington Franchise is confirmed to continue with a fourth movie and a TV series after the upcoming release of Paddington in Peru. The third installment hits UK cinemas in November, followed by a US release. it. Theatrical release in January. Paddington’s next adventure takes him away from the previous movies in London when he goes to Peru to visit Aunt Lucy, along with the Brown family, just to finish a quest for her.
While talking with The Hollywood ReporterFrançoise Guyonnet, the CEO of StudioCanal, said this “We are also working on a new TV series and a new movie that will come in 2027, ’28.” 2028 will mark the 70th anniversary of Paddington, with the character first appearing in the children’s book A bear called Paddington by Michael Bond in 1958. With both projects still in the early stages of development, no additional plot or character details have been revealed.
What this means for the Paddington franchise
Paddington in Peru is not an end
Guyonet’s update confirms that Paddington in Peru Will not be the end of the title bear’s story. The third movie will likely provide closure for Paddington’s next adventure as he searches for Aunt Lucy, but it could leave several storylines open to pave the way for the next sequel. Ben Whishaw will likely return to voice Paddington in the fourth movie, along with other key cast members reprising their roles, although some may be recast if they choose to walk away from the franchise as Sally Hawkins did before Paddington 2.

If Paddington 4 meet its intended release year of 2027 or 2028, There will be a shorter wait between the third and fourth movies than there was between the second and third installments. Paddington 2 Debuted in 2017, while Paddington in Peru will not be released until late 2024 and early 2025. As for the TV series, it remains to be seen if it will be live-action like the movies are, or if it will be animated in the spirit of previous Paddington TV series.
Our take on Paddington 4 and A TV series news
The franchise additions can work with one condition
with Paddington 2 Considered an all-time great movie, the third installment was already going to have a hard time living up to its predecessor. With yet another sequel and a TV series in the works, I worry about the franchise’s ability to maintain the high quality of the two previous movies. At the same time, Paddington has existed for almost 70 years and has not lost its appeal. If Paddington in Peru can maintain the quality of the 2014 and 2017 movies, I will be more optimistic about the future of the Paddington Franchise.
