It seems likely that this hiatus will be among the shorter delays between seasons, due to precedent. Although the delay between Outlander Season 6 and Season 7 spanned more than 13 months, with the new season wrapping production just four months before it premiered. This could mean that season 8 will be ready to air by the time season 7 ends, leaving it ready to air after a more typical TV hiatus. Perhaps meaning that it will premiere sometime in the summer or fall of 2025.
Our take on Outlander Season 8 wrapping production
The end of the show may not mean the end
While Outlander Season 8 wrapping production marks the end of an era, The franchise will make a bid for continuity with an upcoming prequel series subtitled Blood of my bloodWhich is set to follow the love stories of Claire and Jamie’s parents. It remains to be seen if the show becomes a hit on the level of the flagship series, but if it is, the universe could continue in many other forms, potentially prompting the creation of further spinoffs that could include familiar faces from the original series.
Outlander Season 7 Episode 2 premieres on Starz on November 22, 2024.
