Oscar nominee’s exes keep dying in new comedy

Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu has to deal with the fact that her exes keep dying in the trailer for Willing. Set to premiere on Peacock in just a few weeks, the comedy series was first announced in January of this year. This comes on the heels of Hsu’s Oscar-nominated performance in Everything everywhere at the same time and her breakout role in the raunchy comedy Joy ride. But in her latest project, she plays a young woman who slowly realizes that all of her exes are dying.

Peacock has released the trailer for Willingwhich will launch all episodes on December 19.

The trailer shows the premise, focusing mainly on Ruby and her best friend AJ (Girls and The flight attendant star Zosia Mamet). Ruby’s exes gradually begin to die. The two-minute preview shows how although she isn’t worried at first, Ruby finally realizes there is a problem and she thinks this might be the problem..

With AJ’s help, Ruby comes to accept that everyone she has had sex with is dying. A true crime fanatic, AJ helps Ruby change the timeline of her love life and confront her past relationships to move forward and hopefully stop people from dying. The project comes from Nahnatchka Khan, who previously worked on young rockand Will and Grace writer Sally Bradford McKenna. Both are executive producers and showrunners.

The cast also includes Michael Angarano and Tommy Martinez, with special guests Simu LiuKate Berlant and Alexandra Shipp, Andre Hyland, David Denman, John Early, Ettore “Big E” Ewen, Chloe Fineman, Olivia Holt and Finneas O’Connell. Based on the trailer, it looks like each episode could deal with an ex or two in an anthology format.
