A shocking moment in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew just made Order 66 much worse – again. Order 66 was brutal enough when it was first shown in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sithbut Star Wars movies and shows have revealed just how devastating it really was in the nearly 20 years since. Star Wars: The Clone Wars explored in depth what this horrific event was like for the clones, and Obi Wan Kenobi portrayed the violence that young people suffered in much more detail than Revenge of the Sith he did.
Skeleton Crew just joined the ranks Star Wars shows that made the reality of Order 66 even more painfulalthough he did so inadvertently. Set during the New Republic Era of Star Wars timeline and focusing mainly on pirates and not Jedi, Skeleton Crew does not portray Order 66. A moment later Skeleton Crew, in which a group of children are threatened by an adult who is supposed to protect them, however, shed new light on Order 66.
Fern can't believe an “adult” would hurt children
Jod Na Nawood's actions were truly shocking
In Skeleton Crew episode 5, Jod Na Nawood, SM-33, and the kids travel to the planet Lanupa, where they find the lair of the notorious pirate Captain Tak Rennod. Unfortunately, being among Rennod's treasures evidently sends Jod firmly back to his old ways, while demanding that Fern cede the title and role of captain to him. When she doesn't immediately agree, Jod surprisingly grabs her, holding a knife to her throat until she relents..
It was always clear that Jod was actually on this quest for the treasure supposedly in Attin, so the treasure being his true priority wasn't all that shocking. It also seemed like he really cared about the kids, so seeing him threaten Fern like that was shocking and disappointing. Fern apparently shared this sentiment, as she responded to this attack with disbelief, telling Jod, "You're an adult. You can't fight us; we're just children."
For Fern, these actions are absolutely unthinkable because they are so far outside of her experience at home.. Na Attin has her secrets and her problems for sure, but she has always been protected. This moment is a real wake-up call for kids about the harsh realities of the greater galaxy, and Fern's confusion and pain in response to it offers a new perspective on how horrible Order 66 was for young people.

Order 66: Proven Adults Can Do A Lot Worse Than Fight Children
In Star Wars, children have sadly been hurt by adults many times
Fern's reaction to Jod's attack is completely understandable, as the natural order of things would be for adults to protect children, and not cause them harm. Sadly, Star Wars often shows adults betraying this natural order, most obviously during Order 66. While Jod threatened Fern and held her at knifepoint (which was bad enough), During Order 66, clone troopers and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader massacred childrenlargely without hesitation.
What makes this even sadder is that young people, even though they were Jedi, were no doubt also scared and confused during Order 66, just like Fern was when Jod attacked her. This has already been demonstrated to some extent during Revenge of the Sith when the boy asked Anakin what they were going to do and was shocked when Anakin ignited his lightsaber. Hearing Fern directly state that this is something "adults" they weren't meant to do that makes it that much more painful.

Realizing how confused the puppies must have been is brutal
Star Wars' Most Devastating Event Gets Worse All the Time
Order 66 seems to grow even more painful as time passes, and this connection in Skeleton Crew is certainly no exception. Of course, it was already clear that the young people were scared when Order 66 broke out around them, but realizing that part of their confusion was almost certainly that adults were made to keep children safe is absolutely brutal. It's also important to note that no matter how upset Skeleton Crew the children were, after all, their fate was not so horrible.
When Order 66 was first displayed in Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars it protected viewers from seeing Anakin actually kill the children in the Council chambers and, compared to what has been shown since, kept the violence of that event to a minimum. In the years that followed, however, much more was added to this massacre, directly and indirectly. Although this moment between Fern and Jod Na Nawood in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Episode 5 may not be directly connected to Order 66, but it reveals more clearly how confused the poor young people must have been.
