Members of Friends The cast appeared alongside their former co-stars in other projects, but one of the best reunions didn’t come until a decade after the iconic sitcom ended in 2004. Friends not only does it remain one of the best comedies of all time, but it also boasts one of the best casts in TV history. The chemistry that existed between the six main actors is something that cannot be faked, and other projects have taken advantage of the phenomenon – albeit to a lesser extent.
The main cast remained intact throughout all 10 seasons of Friendsallowing the main characters’ stories to grow over the course of a decade. Friends had the rare ability to make a great episode with any permutation of charactersproving how well everyone was cast. Even 20 years after the series ended, actors still get roles, largely due to the attraction they still have to Friends‘ success, and it’s even better when it leads to a mini-reunion.
Matthew Perry played Courteney Cox’s love interest in Cougar Town’s “Like A Diamond”
Their chemistry hasn’t changed since Friends
Five years after the Friends disbanded cast, Monica Geller actress Courteney Cox got a role in another sitcomspending all six seasons as part of the City of Cougars cast between 2009 and 2015. In the penultimate season of the program, City of Cougars Season 5, Episode 2, “Like a Diamond” brought Cox’s Friends co-star in the mix, with Matthew Perry playing the character Sam.
Although it is a one-sided “relationship” as Jules is getting Sam to get away with damaging her car, the installment brings to mind strong tones of the Monica/Chandler dynamic of Friends. Because of this, it makes Cox and Perry’s reunion one of the most touching and meta examples of the members of Friends cast working together again after the show’s final episode.
How Courtney Cox and Matthew Perry’s Characters in Cougar Town Were Different from Monica and Chandler
Jules and Sam are surprisingly different from their Friends co-stars
Matthew Perry’s general behavior City of Cougars and Friends characters are quite similar, and the same goes for Courtney Cox’s characters. However, there are characteristics that separate them. For example, Sam is much more spontaneous than Chandleras proven by Sam’s high-budget marriage proposal to Jules after just one, very brief, fake date. He is also much richer and more fickle in matters of the heart.
Jules accepting Sam’s proposal in “Like a Diamond” is a perfect example of her desire to please people, which isn’t necessarily one of Monica’s greatest traits. The biggest difference is obviously that Sam and Jules, at least as far as Jules is concerned, are never really together. Alternatively, your Friends the counterparts enjoy a long, happy marriage and start their own family.
