The next Skeleton Crew the series is likely creating a great pirate warlord who will be at the center of this new Star Wars show. Featuring a group of children who inadvertently become lost in a galaxy far, far away, they are eventually joined by Jude Law’s Jod Na Nawood, who appears to be a Force user and perhaps even a former Jedi. To that end, it appears this unlikely group of space travelers will also embark on a legendary adventure searching for treasure in the stars.
Coming from Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, Skeleton Crew will be set in the same era as the New Republic of Star Wars timeline, joining other programs like The Mandalorian and Ahsoka. To that end, it was reported that this new Star Wars show is heavily inspired by the films of Steven Spielberg and Amblin, most notably The Goonies. Keeping this in mind, the latest trailer for Star Wars: Skeleton Team may have just revealed his version of “One-Eyed Willy,” an ancient pirate warlord who and canonical despite its origins in Legends.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is putting together a classic treasure hunt story
A galactic adventure in search of riches and a way home
At first, Skeleton Crew appears to start with four children who are lost in space, having found an old ship buried beneath their seemingly boring planet where nothing happens.. These children are Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), KB (Kyriana Kratter) and Neel (Robert Timothy Smith). That being said, the trailers for Skeleton Team I confirm that this adventure will involve much more than a simple trip home.
Featuring pirates, traps, and all sorts of dangers to face, this new show appears to involve a search for hidden treasure (cementing The Goonies parallels even more). Likewise, it appears that Jude Law’s Jod Na Nawood will likely help these children return home in exchange for their help in finding what appears to be treasure that has been hidden from the galaxy for a long time.as seen in the trailers when the group finds themselves in a large room full of riches. To that end, there are a few moments in the trailers that suggest this treasure once belonged to one of the world’s most legendary pirates. Star Wars Galaxy.
We think the treasure belongs to Xim, the despot
An ancient pirate warlord
Featured in the traps and also behind a large throne in the treasure room, the image of a Weequay’s skull is shown repeatedly in the latest trailer for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. To that end, this skull symbol closely resembles the one belonging to Xim the Despot, an ancient pirate warlord who existed thousands of years before the events of the Skywalker saga. Raised as a notorious pirate with a legendary treasure ship, Xim was first mentioned in the 1980s. Han Solo and the Lost Legacya romance that has since become part of non-canon Legends.
In Legends, Xim ruled a massive empire before being defeated by the rising Hutt clans.. He supposedly had enormous amounts of riches stored aboard his lost treasure ship, known as the Queen of Ranroon also. That said, Xim the Despot and small parts of his story have persisted in official history. Star Wars canon. Not only is Xim’s symbol still part of the extant canon, but a crystal mytag mast of his skull can be seen among Dryden Vos’s artifacts aboard his yacht in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Likewise, it was said that Supreme Leader Snoke Mega-Star Dreadnought class The Supremacy it was almost as big as Xim’s flagship, meaning it must have been one of the largest ships in the entire world. Star Wars canon. Additionally, a key image of Skeleton Crew sees Jod investigating a message carved using the same ancient version of ur-Kittat first seen on the world of Peridea in Ahsokasupporting the theory that this horde of treasures and traps were in fact the work of Xim, who also existed in the ancient past when this language would have been in use.
If this is Xim, Skeleton Crew is revealing more about the galaxy’s ancient past
Assuming the skull symbols and treasure are linked to Xim the Despot, this would mean changing the ancient warlord’s species from human to Weequay. However, this seems like minimal recognition given that the character has only been referenced in myths and legends. Likewise, it could be argued that the fact that Xim was a Weequay would have more impact regarding his death at the hands of the Hutts, as many members of the Weequay species over the centuries have long worked for the Hutt clan, a largely subservient relationship. this may have started with Xim’s defeat.
Likewise, it is also worth noting that Hondo Ohnaka, the legendary pirate of THE Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, is also a Weequay and his ship has already been seen in trailers teasing his live-action debut in the new Skeleton Crew series. Who better than a currently active and notorious Weequay pirate like Hondo Ohnaka to potentially offer Jod and the kids some insights into a past Weequay pirate warlord? Without a doubt, one can imagine that Hondo at some point made his own investigations into the whereabouts of Xim’s legendary treasure ship.
“It will be fascinating to discover whether Xim the Despot is in fact Skeleton Crew “One-Eyed Willy” when the show premieres in December…”
Xim the Despot would also allow Skeleton Crew to follow on Ahsoka steps, offering new details about the ancient past thousands of years before the Skywalker saga. After all, looking back will only become more important considering James Mangold’s next film Dawn of the Jedi film, exploring the first Jedi who began their order 25,000 years earlier The phantom menace. At least in Legends, Xim’s pirate empire was active around the same time, and perhaps even began after the collapse of the Peridean empire. Either way, it will be fascinating to discover whether Xim the Despot is in fact Skeleton Crew “One-Eyed Willy” when the show premieres in December.
The first two episodes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew premieres December 3 on Disney+.
