Just because players can’t aim doesn’t mean they can’t get involved in some Fallout 4 Gun game in the Commonwealth. Of course, there’s always the option of using a melee build with all the wacky weapons available to the Sole Survivor, but running into a Deathclaw with a pipe wrench isn’t always the most appealing option. Thankfully, for those who don’t play many FPS games and can’t aim all too well, Bethesda supplies WATS (Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System) for Fallout Players to make even the worst shots around deadly and precise killers.
The beautiful thing about VATS is that it is an in-game system provided by the Pip-Boyand is considered a highly-advanced, but mostly lost, technology created by Vault-Tec. Although players can never tell, some enemies are capable of using WATS, such as the third-generation synths with a similar technology in their brains, thanks to the Institute. As far as the player is concerned, VATS uses AP (which is also the stamina stat) for its attacks, and a certain perk from a specific companion can make AP regeneration much better.
Trigger noise is completely overpowered with watts
And the description is wrong
Every companion in Fallout 4 Has a companion perk that players can unlock and use as long as they have spent enough time with the companion. Cait, a tough cage fighter with an Irish accent, has a rather nifty companion perk for those who like to use Watts. It is called trigger noise And its description says it regenerates AP 25% faster when the sole survivor is below 25% health. On paper, that sounds reasonably underwhelming, but thankfully, that’s not what the perk actually does, for a reason only Bethesda knows.
In fact, the Trigger Rush Perk allows players to regenerate AP 50% faster while their AP is below 25%. Since VATS uses AP to fire and this perk allows it to regenerate much faster, meaning that VATS spamming is definitely on the cards if players want to keep Kait around. Pair this Companion Perk with the Action Boy/Girl Perk, and AP will regenerate so quickly that players may never need to aim again, especially if they’re running a Watts build.

Melee is also an option with VATs, and the more a player uses this system, the more they can activate his critical hit to deal even more damage. Enemies are slowed down when using Watts, and although they can still hit Sole Survivor in this stateThere is not much they can do to protect themselves. With the AP regeneration improvements from Trigger Noise, players can clear a lot before anyone knows what hit them, without even being able to aim.
Making Watts overpowered requires some work
But trigger noise is a must for Watts builds
Of course, players will need to unlock the Companion Perks to use it. This will Require them to improve their relationship with Kait to the point of maxing it out. To do this, the sole survivor must complete her personal quest, called Benign Intervention, which involves curing her of her chem addiction. During this process, players also have the option to romance the companion, but this is not necessary to maximize her affinity and get the perk.
While players will need to spend a decent chunk of time with Cait to get her perk, once they have it, they are no longer required to stay with her. THis is perfect for a lone wanderer who still wants to use the perkOr someone who would just prefer another’s company. It’s hard to beat Dogmeat, after all, since the lovable pooch won’t judge you like literally every other companion and the Lone Wanderer perk will still work with him.
Finally, when it comes to improving a Watts build for those who can’t aim all that well, improving AP and its regeneration are vital. Being able to use it as much as possible makes it Straight OP in Fallout 4 And Cait’s Trigger Rush is amazing for thatAlthough its description says otherwise. It makes Cait a must-have for VATS builds, at least for a little while until the Sole Survivor can help her kick her chem addiction and maximize her affinity.
