You’ll have plenty of farming locations across the map, although players have discovered more questionable methods of obtaining this essential resource. To maintain your body heat, you should take the safest route and head to areas where you can extract ore without risk.
Along with seven new Deviants to capture in Winter Pathyou will also find cold weather conditions, in line with the introduction of Once the human new temperature mechanics. As you venture into the icy Arkam region, you’ll have access to several new areas and a variety of resources to find, many of which are needed to power Thermal Tower facilities and maintain a state of homeostasis. Hot Rock Ore is just one material you will need to create these structures and stay warm in Phase Two of the icy scenario.
Best Places to Find Hot Rock Ore
Mining in Ember Strand
Naturally, the Brasa Beach region is home to a few different areas perfect for growing hot rock ore in Phase Two of Once the way of winter for humans scenario. Although you may have some luck locating deposits, Mr Kraken on YouTube notes that the best places to search include:
- Snakeye Pass
- Fire Throat Fortress
Snakeye Pass features a winding route filled with hot rock ore deposits to Sunshroud Cave. Other resources can also be obtained along the way, making this passage a plentiful place to start farming different types of ore, each of which you’ll need to keep your body temperature in check.
Moving on to Fire Throat FortressThis location is as dangerous as it sounds, situated directly next to an active volcano. The exact coordinates you should aim for are (-5186, 4394). You can find groups of nodes scattered around this area, providing all the hot rock ore you need to stay warm in the snow. However, you will also need to come prepared with adequate protection from the extreme heat here, as you can overheat quickly.
While Molotov cocktails are essential items to counteract the cold in Vena Fjord and Onyx Tundra, Ice Grenades can be used to subdue the heat of Hot Rock Ore in the Ember Strand region. Be sure to stock up on these items in advance to avoid overheating while scavenging for resources.
Both heat and cold will pose a threat in these two areas, but you will also find many vultures in your research effort. It’s best to be aware of your surroundings as you move forward, as you may use Winter path new Combat Deviants to your advantage here, especially Invincible Sun and Snowsprite.
How to use hot rock ores
Create thermal and heating towers to stay warm
Hot rock ore is required to craft Heat and Thermal Towers node Once the way of winter for humans scenario. Although both are essential for maintaining body temperature, the latter is an indispensable structure that will lessen the burden of the cold tenfold. With a Thermal Tower installed, you can effectively control the temperature and environment of a designated area and continue to upgrade the structure’s technology to further influence temperature and weather conditions. Upgrades also come with additional bonuses, so you’ll want to invest in building as soon as possible.
This certainly has big advantages, but there are some small disadvantages to consider. Thermal Towers cannot be built within your territory; you must choose a location outside the area. You will also have to avoid placing two towers close together, as the affected areas cannot overlap. This will require you to practice new strategies as well as cultivate several essential resources. In addition to the ore needed to build Thermal Towers, you will also need stock up on chaos to perform them consistently moving forward.
