Now that My Hero Academia is over, it’s clear that one character deserved more screen time

The students of My hero academiaThe Class 1-A is clear proof of how intriguing and unique the series’ power system is. Each of the determined fighters has a particular power, all with their strengths and weaknesses. However, not all Class 1-A quirks were equally powerful or versatile.

Among the most capable students in the series, Momo Yaoyorozu stands out for how useful her quirk was. Unfortunately, the abilities of the Class 1-A Vice-President are not as relevant to the story as they should have been. Her power to create any object by turning lipids into the necessary materials should have positioned her as one of the series’ powerhouses.

Momo’s abilities surpass almost anyone else in Class 1-A

Her quirk and intelligence should have placed her as one of the best hero students

The My hero academia series explains Yaoyorozu’s Quirk, named Creation, vii The ability to transform the lipids in your body into any other material. For this ability to work, Momo needs to know the exact chemical composition of the item she wants to create. The heiress of Yaoyorozu studied different compounds for years, turning her into one of the most knowledgeable members of Class 1-A. Although not a strong fighter, her quirk and intelligence alone should have helped her quickly climb through the ranks of Class 1-A.

Nevertheless, Yaomomo never stood out much among her classmates, because her quirk was mostly used to create simple weapons or small gadgets to help her during specific situations. The full potential of Creation was never shown during the series, which was repeatedly pointed out by fans. Such a powerful and almost unstoppable Quirk should have given Momo the ability to defeat almost all of her opponents. For example, during her battle against Tokuyami in episode 21, Yaoyorozu created a shield to protect herself from Dark Shadow’s attacks. Instead, she should have created a tool capable of countering her opponent.

Although the first failure could be attributed to a lack of combat experience and nervousness, her attitude to fighting never changed much as the story progressed. Even after her mock battle against Aizawa, during the final exams arc of the series, Yaomomo’s battle style remains unimaginative and simple. Her de facto weapon is a metal staff that never helped her much against dangerous villains. The best battles Yaoyorozu participated in were the ones where she thought outside the box and used her Quirk in unexpected ways.

Yaomomo’s Quirk could potentially mimic other abilities

Your ability to create any chemical compound opens up many possibilities

Momo creates sedatives to put Gigantomachia to sleep.

Although, on paper, Yaoyorozu’s Quirk was one of the strongest in the series, her performance always made it look inferior to others like Explosion or Half-Hot Half-Cold. However, Creation has the potential to create similar effects as Bakugo or Todoroki’s abilities. Proof of this is given during episode 121, in which Momo creates various tranquilizers to try to take Gigantomachia down. The fact that she can create these substances implies that her quirk can create more than just solid matter.

If this is indeed the case, her power could allow her to recreate a liquid similar to that contained in Bakugo’s sweat, which could be ignited to explode. Likewise, she was able to produce a burning substance that she could set on fire to incapacitate an opponent. What’s more, since Yaoyorozu can seemingly recreate any material, she can replicate other quirks such as Midnight’s sleep-inducing gas or even Deku’s smoke screen. The possibilities of what Momo could have achieved if her quirk was properly developed are endless.

In the end, Momo was relegated to the role of a supporting character, forced to use her abilities in unimaginative ways. Most of her fights saw her create a cannon, a blunt weapon, or a distraction so other stronger fighters like Todoroki could shine. With a little more screen time and creativity, it’s hard to imagine all Momo could have accomplished in the series. Still, her character development is nothing to fret about, as her story is one of overcoming insecurities and stepping into his power. Although she could have been a much better fighter, Momo is still an inspiration.

The story created by the beloved Kohei Horikoshi may have overlooked some intriguing and exciting characters like Yaoyorozu. Even then, the world of My hero academia Remains a thrilling and absorbing reality in which most fans of the series would like to live. These quirks that are given the right screen time and development will forever remain as some of anime’s most iconic, imaginative and unique abilities.

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, honestly, none of them. Deku has always idolized heroes as the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. The school shapes young Quirk users into future heroes through mock rescue missions, combat training and other hero-tempering tasks. With the young Deku inheriting the “one-for-all” charm, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing terrifying supervillains.
