“…I was too dangerous to let live…too useful to kill.” –Wally West on D.C. vs. Vampires: World War V #5
When opening a container at the Vampire Queen's facility, Green Arrow, Black Canary and the other heroes come across a scene straight out of a horror movie—Wally West, with his legs severed at the knees, is attached to various wires and tubes as he is forced to use his arms' super speed to generate power. After recovering from the shock, Oliver and Dinah spring into action, taking down the vampire guards armed with stun batons, which they were using to force Wally to move. With the vampires defeated, Dinah and Oliver carefully remove the tubes and wires from Wally's body, gently lowering him to the ground.
Reeling from the horror of what they just witnessed, Oliver and Dinah ask Wally to explain what happened, leading him to reveal that the vampires were using him to generate power. Oliver's next question is to ask Flash what happened to his legs, and Wally's answer is simply chilling: “They took them. Nightwing said I was… too dangerous to let live… too useful to kill. This revelation brings to light two stomach-churning truths: first, Nightwing, Wally's canonically best friend, is responsible for this horrible fate, and second, since Dick has been dead for some time, this means that Wally has been suffering this torment for some time. an unimaginable period of time.

At the time, Hal's act seemed like the ultimate betrayal, but Dick's horrific treatment of Wally shows that, in comparison, Barry's fate may have been merciful.
The idea that Barry escaped easily by dying quickly at Hal's hands, with a relatively painless death when Hal broke his neck D.C. vs. Vampires #2 (2021), is further supported by Wally's reaction to being saved. Despite reuniting with his friends and they promise to lead him to freedom Wally begs them to kill him. In response to his assurances, he says: “No… Just make it stop… Just get it over with. Kill me.” Green Arrow and Black Canary immediately refuse, but it remains clear that in this alternate universe, death may be one of the kindest fates a Flash can receive.
The Flash's survival teases that he is destined to play a vital role in D.C. vs. Vampires: World War V
Wally West has a long road to recovery ahead of him
D.C. vs. Vampires: World War V offers many compelling plots and characters, but the revelation that Wally West is alive and that his allies refuse to kill him despite his pleas made it one of the most intriguing aspects of the story. This twist suggests that Flash has a bigger role to play, as it's hard to imagine him surviving only to fade into the background. Whatever direction Rosenberg takes with Wally FlashIt will be fascinating to see how he deals with the trauma inflicted by Nightwing.
