Marvel Comics Punishment Lore has just been drastically reshaped, as the final issue of Garth Ennis’ Get fury Series reveals that Nick Fury was Instrumental in the chain of events that led to Frank Castle’s tragic origin story. It is fitting that Ennis’ return to the Punisher would return with such a groundbreaking change in the character’s history, although what this means for the future remains to be determined.

Get fury #6 – written by Garth Ennis, with art by Jacen Burrows – brings the miniseries to its bleak conclusion. Castle completes his mission, recovering the captured Fury behind enemy lines, with the two barely surviving the encounter.

The story of what then happened at Valley Forge has been previously told in Poet: BornA four-issue miniseries by Garth Ennis and The boys Co-creator Darric Robertson released in 2003. Born Chronicles Castle’s final tour in 1971, and the brutal battle that saw everyone killed except for Castle. During the climax, a mysterious voice reaches Castle, who offers him the chance to survive, at a price. At the end of the story, it is strongly implied that the price will be the sacrifice of Castle’s family back home, thus giving birth to the Punisher.

Knowing that Nick Fury is responsible for sending Frank Castle to Valley Forge explains a lot about the relationship between these charactersEspecially as it was described in Ennis later Punishment Max series. Every time the characters crossed paths in the post-Vietnam years, Fury always seemed to be fooling Castle in some way. The events of Get fury Help to better define the relationship with a dark twist. Castle saves Fury’s life by rescuing him from the enemy, but he is repaid by getting sent to a hell of a completely different kind.

in this way, Get fury Provides an excellent conclusion to Frank Castle and Nick Fury’s story; Born with good intentions, but sealed in blood. By showing the sin of the past, the subsequent relationship seen in the Punishment Max’s story gives fans the last piece of context to understand a bit of what makes both men tick. revealing that Nick Fury was partly responsible for Frank Castle’s transformation into the Punishment Adds to the rich mythology created by Garth Ennis in his own little corner of the Marvel MAX line.
