Next Mistborn Book’s Release Plan Will Make 1 Confirmed Change Less ShockingFan

It might take a while until the next one Born from the mists book comes out, but Brandon Sanderson’s Era 3 release plan will make a confirmed change less shocking to readers. Sanderson’s second era Born from the mists saga concluded with The Lost Metal in 2022, but the author has another series planned. He is working on other Cosmere books and new ones. Legacy to Heaven romances too, so it will take some time for the next one Born from the mists parcel to hit the shelves. The wait may seem frustrating now, but it could actually benefit Sanderson’s new story in the long run.

The author revealed in 2023 Sanderson State post on the blog he intends to write all of Era 3 before publishing any of the bookssomething that will further prolong the launch process. Of course, this will help Born from the mists avoid a problem that plagues other fantasy series: long waits between sequels. The trade-off is a longer than normal break before the first book. But this comes with a silver lining other than the fact that the sequels won’t be incredibly spaced out.

The release plan for the next Mistborn book means we won’t see it until at least 2028

This leaves a five year gap between Era 2 and Era 3

Sanderson’s plan to write all three Born from the mists The Age 3 books before releasing the first one mean readers likely won’t see the initial installment until at least 2028. Sanderson’s blog post admits as much, estimating that he “I will be writing them all in 2025, 2026 and 2027.” This assumes everything goes according to plan, and it’s worth noting that Sanderson will be working on new Elantris, White Sand, and Legacy to Heaven novels in the meantime. The next Born from the mists the book may take even longer if the author is delayed for some reason.

If Born from the mists If Era 3 were a direct continuation of the previous books, the five-year gap would be disheartening. However, the next novel will begin an entirely new story with new characters, making the wait less agonizing. And given that Era 3 will feature a similar setting change to Born from the mists Era 2a long break between series could actually be good for the Sanderson saga. This will make the time jump feel much less abrupt.

About 300 years pass between Age of the Mistborn 1 and It was 2, and the next series is expected to feature another big time jump. This will reportedly occur when technology has evolved to the level of advancement of the 1980s. This will certainly be a notable change in a world with a metal-based magic system. This configuration change will cause the next Born from the mists romance looks significantly different from both previous seasons. With that in mind, it’s probably good that readers have time to digest and disconnect from Era 2.

If the next Born from the mists series began shortly after Era 2, it would probably be jarring to go from the Western-style narrative of Wax and Wayne’s story to a more advanced setting.

If the next Born from the mists series began shortly after Era 2, it would probably be jarring to go from the Western-style narrative of Wax and Wayne’s story to a more advanced setting. This has already happened with the jump from The Hero of All Ages to The League of Law, despite the three-year gap between the books. Born from the mists Era 3 has the advantage that readers can expect a major tonal and setting shift. But the longer wait will also give readers time away from Era 2making it less shocking when they return to a very different version of Sanderson’s fantasy world.

Mistborn Era 2 Proves Brandon Sanderson Can Make a Major Narrative Shift

This offers hope for the next addition to the series

Waiting for the next one Born from the mists book inspires confidence in Sanderson’s ability to pull off his big jump in the timeline, but Era 2’s success also proves he can make it work. These big narrative shifts can be difficult for authors, but Sanderson has a knack for telling sprawling stories that span generations and even universes. While Era 2 takes some time to find its footing, it becomes an impressive representation of Scadrial’s future after the original Born from the mists books.

There’s no doubt that Era 3 will be just as successful, with Sanderson taking a similar approach. And given that he’s already advanced in time, he’ll have more experience making this transition as seamless and exciting as possible. Waiting for the next one Born from the mists book and this prior experience, he will have no problem selling readers on this futuristic iteration of Scadrial. Not to mention the possibilities that arise with technological advancement. It goes without saying that Era 3’s frustrating release plan could be a positive outcome for the series.
