Ariana Grande-Butera shared her thoughts on the controversial title of the film's musical sequence Evil: forever. The next Evil: forever will adapt the second half of the iconic Broadway musical, directly following the events of the 2024s Wicked: Part One. The official title of the sequel, originally mentioned with the subtitle Part Twoit was not announced until December 16. Forever The subtitle, which references a key song from Act 2, was criticized on social media for a number of reasons, including the fact that it did not match the naming convention of Part One.
Grande-Butera recently spoke with Variety at the luncheon for first-time Golden Globe nominees. When discussing the title of the upcoming film, she revealed that the cast knew they would probably be called Evil: forever before they start filmingsince the title was “printed in our original scripts.” She reflected that they had become “quite attached“to the title and that she thinks it's a solid choice because it matches her feelings about the motif. Referencing the song's lyrics, she shared that”this project truly changed us forever.” Read Grande-Butera's full quote below:
We had [‘For Good’] printed on our original scripts, the hard copies we were originally given. We were floating around different ideas, but the scripts were printed with them from day one. I'm glad it's official now because we've grown very attached to it. It's just the perfect title because this project truly changed us forever.
