Tom and Jerry are returning in a big way, as two of the writers behind the Toy Story franchise and Rashida Jones are set to develop a theatrical feature film. Created by Hanna-Barbera in 1941, the slapstick duo has starred in more than 166 animated shorts and several additional spin-offs. Two theatrical Tom and Jerry films were developed, including an animated film in 1992 titled Tom and Jerry: the movieand a live-action/animation hybrid film releasing in 2021.
As reported by DeadlineWarner Bros. Pictures Animation has begun development of a new Tom and Jerry film. While no director has been announced, it has been confirmed that Jones will write alongside Will McCormack and Michael Govier. McCormack and Govier's credits include Toy Story 4.
