Although the phone call does not confirm how much time has passed, it seems to make it clear that Tabitha has returned to the “real” world.

In the wake of Tabitha’s disappearance, Victor (Scott McCord) returns to the township, prompting Ethan (Simon Webster), Tabitha’s son, to try to find her. Realizing that he needs to reunite his family, Jim Matthews tells Ethan to stay put while he scours the woods for Tabitha. Boyd points out that if Jim goes missing while looking for his wife, Ethan and Julie will be completely parentless and alone. Even so, Jim is persistent. Boyd gives Jim some advice, and explains where to take shelter When darkness falls. To Boyd’s surprise, his deputy, Kenny (Ricky Err), offers to go with Jim.

While Jim suggests they wait the night in the stone cottage, Kenny is much more skeptical of the strange camp. Realizing that they are completely off course, Jim agrees to return to town in the morning.

Donna & Ellis try to harvest the rest of the crops but it’s all rotten

The city faces a dire food shortage

in of Season 2, a storm devastated many of the Colony House’s crops. This prompts Donna (Elizabeth Saunders) to round up her team to harvest the remaining food in the season 3 premiere. Pretty soon, Donna sends Ellis (Corteon Moore) to fetch his father, Boyd. When the town sheriff arrives, he is shocked to learn that the remaining vegetables in Donna’s garden are all rotten. Donna insists that there is something wrong with the soil – that it is “poisoned.” Since Colony House’s garden serves as the township’s primary food source, panic ensues, prompting the townspeople to raid the diner’s stores.

Jade, Victor, and Tian-Chen all join Boyd, putting their lives on the line for everyone else. The monsters also manage to break into the Matthews’ home, sending Ethan and Julie running for shelter on Randall’s bus. Although one of the monsters slits a cow’s neck, Victor and Jade involve the sheep and goats in the bar.

In a horrifying and deeply sad twist, The monsters decide to torture and kill Tian-chen in front of Boyd as a way to make the sheriff suffer.

In the finale of the second season, Boyd tells the monsters that they will not be able to break him. Boyd then destroys the strange music box. Now, the monsters seem to prove Boyd wrong.
